For commuting in the UK I can highly recommend full wheel arch ones. If your bike has mounts, then pull into Brick Lane bikes and they will pimp you out. Planet X also have some good options....

Also on the commute in it’s about those around you more than yourself. I would happily just pop on an Ass-saver. But yes, you are right Bruno does deserve better, maybe the answer is a dedicated winter commuter bike hmmmmm
