Interesting topic. 

 

What do you do during your rest days? 

I have a big riding holiday coming up with 5 days of riding and about 4000m of climbing with enduro style descending. 

 

I did my last 30 minute recovery ride after the weekend's training and now I'm faced with 4 days of doing nothing really. I'm so used to training almost every day that I'm starting to dread the next few days coming up. 

 

My plan is to do yoga and stretching as well as eating as clean as possible to recover as much as possible. 

 

Anything else to consider?

I could hit 2 sessions on Sufferfest this week then. One on Wednesday and one on Friday then. 

Saturday is travel day and Sunday will be the first big ride.

just back off on the duration if you feel its going to hurt the legs. a 30-45 min session should be fine.

Agree. I was planning on turning down the intensity. I normally do a 60 minute session and it's quite intense. Will most likely go down to 75% effort.

Whenever I taper for a big event (like half-ironman) I usually do the same intensity training but in much shorter sessions for the last week. So a 45 minute ride/run as opposed to a 90 minute one etc.

before a race I usually slow down 2/3 days before... 1 day nothing, then one day 1h / 1h30 zone 2 just before the race with a few sprints (not all out, not long) and this works for me.

 

I find that the more I do nothing, the worst I feel... It's like sleeping too much, for some reason it makes me tired...

1 hour rides in Zone 1 to 2 with 10sec sprints every 10min.
