A quick Google search says helium particles are a fair amount smaller than oxygen particles and this will lead to it seeping through the tyre walls

Didn't Jan Ullrich's team use some specific gas in their TT bike tyres at some stage?
Around 1999.


Can't remember if it was helium or not.

This, and also the weight of the air in your tyres is a ridiculously small component of the overall weight of your bike. I haven't done the sums, but someone on the internet reckons a 15g saving on 25c tyres. Which is not much for a fair amount of admin.

I think GCN or GMBN have tried it, I think there was absolutely no difference ;)
