Only done sani three times. BnB is on my list for when I can. Sani was dry everytime with little to no rain.

Based on the comments I would say just flip a coin.

5th consecutive Sani2C coming up - day 2 is the best riding I've ever done.

1st Berg & Bush this year. Excited!

2nd W2W coming up this year. Great race!

I have done

Sani2c ( in the worst rain and mud)

Jhb2c twice

my wife has done the full set including Berg and Bush

I did not like the crowds at Sani2C and preferred the middle section of Jhb2C as I prefer the most technical riding aspect

my wife enjoyed all 5 of her Berg and Bush races. Also did not enjoy Sani2C

Sheesh... Sani2C must have changed since the last one I did in 2014/15.

Done B&B and Sani2C in the wet, both were grim. Sani is now much reduced in numbers, so not so crowded. Last year May was near perfect in terms of conditions, so the weather does play a big role.

May 2021 was most probably the best weather at Sani! Best riding days I have ever had!

But I remember Sani December 2020...

My experience was in 2010 when the rain and mud started a week before the race and continued through the 3 days. That was also the year the organizers added an extra hundred teams or so. ( about 850 teams really put a strain on all the facilities)

Both are incredible, but Berg & Bush gets my vote. Costing, vibe and ride experience. Not as packed as Sani, which I like.
TBH you can't go wrong with either, comes down to what you want specifically.

I have done both, multiple times , the riding is different but equally good,  food is top class at both , so are water points ( resupply buffets ) but something about the point to point appeals to me personally , you are going somewhere an the sea is at the end.

Choose one and do it , you will not be sorry , than put other on bucket list 😉

Thanks for all of the feedback. I have decided to go for B&B this year and Sani next year. Maybe throw in a Wines to Whales at the end of this year as well...

What have you decided in terms of accommodation?

I will probably do the self camping option that Berg and Bush offers. If the wife decides to join for the trip then will stay at a place nearby. There seem to be many good accommodation options close to the start.

In the past there was always free camping at the Spionkop side race village.
