If item sold was advertised Incorrectly

How does one resolve an item e.g. a rear shock is advertised as 190 mm and 45 stroke and the build takes several months to accumulate all the parts. Now on the last part of the build you realize the part supplied is let’s say 200mm and stroke 55mm? Do you have recourse to say. Your part was advertised wrong or do you take the hit and sell it on?

I get the incorrect advertising part but if you didn't check it when it arrived several months ago, I think you are on your own here.

FYI, that does look like 190 (centre to centre) to me.  Are you sure you measuring correctly?

Edit:  What is the 4 digit code on the shock?  Can be confirmed on the FOX website with that.

Also its probably 190.5mm (7.5 inch).  These things do work in inches (Shite units !)

190.5 x 44.45 (7.5" x 1.75") but we can confirm once you have the FOX code.

I've been done in a few times on bikehub when buying Fox shock regarding eye to eye length and stroke, but only once was it I'll intent on the seller's side.

School fees payed. I will not buy any Fox shock without knowing the 4digit Tune ID. That way I can confirm the size and tune myself.

(if Only Fox could learn from SRAM and print the shock size and stroke on the stanchion) 

Best bet is to sell it on and cut your losses if the size is incorrect.

I checked and there is nothing on the outside

In the last pic - Is the code not part of the white lettering closest to the vice

Just an observation - that vice should have soft jaws when handling parts of this nature

okay well from the pic it looks like 190mm 

 

stroke can be either 45 / 51 / 57 mm 

 

You can measure it by measuring the exposed damper shaft but the sealhead and eyelet make this very difficult to accurately measure since you're dealing with such small increments
