I see that hey have come down in price.
For almost the same money, the Bontrager has 1300 lumens. But perhaps it isn't quite as clever as the Garmin light.

(I have the Bontrager under my Garmin 530. Neat and compact)

I'm also using the Bontrager, but at the price of the Garmin, it makes more sense to buy it over the Bontrager, especially as the light comes complete with mount etc. Otherwise, one would need to buy a new Garmin mount which can take a Go-pro type mount.

sounds like this light is more suited to the road?

I have the varia radar and it's brilliant.

I have the mountings on both road and mtb, I find on the trails at dusk and night it works really well, and as stated it buys you that extra bit of riding time when you sneak off late afternoon. Especially how it changes brightness automatically based on your speed. But yes, certainly the combo of the rear and front make great sense on the road bike day or night, especially as the radar light goes brighter when vehicles pass, I’m pretty sure it seems to pull driver attention and motorists do seem to be more aware.

Do you possibly have a photo or even a link to these lights.  Certainly sound like a neat and compact solution.

Really like how the Garmin light mounts on the out front mount, also can be mounted directly on the handlebar, comes with a couple of options.6B6EF7A7-3B97-4544-B37B-6892B542D977.jpeg.7e06811f60484a2232c7db460ea2fe17.jpeg

Road or trails ?

To be seen by other road users, OR to light up the road ahead of you ?

Do you want a "spot" or a "spread" light ?

How long must the battery last ?

Crazy how many options we have now.

My recommendation is for "Extreme lights".  What ever your needs, they have it.

Absolutely agree, but if you have deep pockets the Exposure Lights are also worth looking at.

I ran the mill a few months ago, here are my findings.
This is all for MTB trail use in complete darkness.

Money is no object (Top of the line at R7600)
Exposure lights: https://www.exposurelights.co.za/

Looking to do a Transbaviaans or endurance races
(And best option if you do not mind the additional battery pack (Nifty not for MTB))
Extreme lights: https://www.extremelights.co.za/collections/bicycle-lights

Without battery pack but packs enough punch: (What I was looking for)
Whittled it down to the LEZYNE Mega Drive 1800i or the Giant Recon HL 1800.
Similar price and runtime.

I went with the Lezyne as you have the option to add a battery if you want to double the runtime and very adjustable on the light setting which you can set with the app. Bought from Bike Addict without issues.
https://bike-addict.co.za/products/lezyne-mega-drive-1800i-infin-front-light

Very happy with the light spread and intensity and it does not move on the bars at all.
(Typical use, Jonkershoek red lines without additional head torch)

Edit: Is the OP still even following this tread!?

What mount is that for the Fenix? Is it an insert for the normal quarter turn?

Garmin Fenix 6 watch mount, tried to reply with the pic… but it works super well, allows you then mount your watch on the out front mount or handlebar with quarter turn. Luckily it works with the Fenix 7 as well, at least the large mount does with the 7x solar.
