Flat stage following the rest day... no surprise that no-one wants to go into the breakaway...

37km covered in the first hour.

Leisurely...

A day later, the story changes completely,

Everyone wants to be in the Break, and UAE seems unwilling to let it go. 49km/h average speed currently

Not just UAE, other teams keep missing it, and then attacking to bridge, which drags the whole peloton up and stops the break being allowed to go.

Are they doing this to control the break or is it more a case of keeping the pace high and try and weaken the Visma train before the action starts. I think this stage definitely suits Pogi and he’s probably thinking of 30sec gap and maybe win bonus.

looks like MVDP isn't interested in any stage wins this year, just there for base miles and leading out Phillipsen. Quite a waste of talent :(

I'm also surprised. I thought between himself and Jasper they would have had multiple wins by now.

Other guys are smiling though.

Pogi and the Peloton are 1m49s back now. they seem content with the riders upfront, 12 in total spread across the road. Will probably consolidate over the next 50km before the real climbing starts...

I'm going for Carapaz to hang-on for the win over a chasing GC battle...

I can't believe Jonas Abrahamsen isn't in the break, what a slacker 😉🤭

Hehe, true; every time I see him pop out at/near the front, day-after-day, I cannot believe how he does it; he really does liven up the Tour!
