The group slowed down for the climb ? That's usually when things get interesting (and by interesting I mean slightly uncomfortable)

Race tactics 😛 After that slowdown the first riders of D went over Botmas just a minute slower than the A main bunch and faster than most in B (if you can believe Strava)

Absolute newbie question .....

How do you manage such an explosive start ?  Or do you do a warm up lap before going to the start shute ?

The two times I tried such fast starts I cramped up after 15 minutes ....

No easy fix to that, sure some interval training should help? And getting older doesn't help (speaking for myself)

Worth saying is 9 times out of 10 the pace slows down once you hit the open roads so its worth holding on while bleeding through your ears for the 1st few kilometers because the suffering should be over soon & as mentioned on the thread the Wellington race bunch start is dodgier than most, no shame in choosing life over racing position.

That .... plus I dont to be THAT ebiker that mixes it up in those first dangerous corners ....

Me in my head "get to the front, get to the front, get to the front"

Me in reality, sits comfortably at the back imaging the climb is still KMs away

The first 5km in C were also wild. When we got onto Distillery Road, things settled down a little. But yeah, it's not a fun way to start with so many turns and roundabouts.

I actually thought C was quite chilled and well behaved the entire way. Having said that, I was dropped from the front guys up Bothmas and it took me and a few other guys and girls a good 30mins effort to catch up to the C batch break-away.

The results are updated with the starting group info.

I see Group C had a lekker coffee ride, slower than the winners of D, F & G.... 😘

Are you sure you checked your stats on that correctly? I'd hate for someone to jump to this thread and tell you how to do your research and draw educated conclusions....... 🤭

A-group was neutralised this year till we got out of town after some horrific crashes at past events. Seems they need to look into something similar for all groups... 🤕

where do you see that?  I still only see the old crappy website on https://results.finishtime.co.za/results.aspx?CId=35&RId=4364&EId=1&dt=1

also, when can we expect the new seeding to come out?

New seedings should be done by early next week at the latest (in time for the 99er seeding)

Unless the system is now broken...

It does look like Skubarra is correct, here are the fastest riders per group/wave:

Wave A: 2:24:16

Wave B: 2:37:24

Wave F: 2:38:36

Wave D= 2:40:48

Wave Z: 2:41:23

Wave Y: 2:42.09

Wave G: 2:44:09

Wave C= 2:45:27

Wave M: 2:48:55

Somebody is going to start in different starting groups soon....

Wave Z, Y, M? I definitely dont recall seeing this. What happened to H, J, K etc?
