  6. Bram Fischer Dr Climb (passed Bryanston golf club) | 2.36Km | 4.4%
  7. Good Morning Ms MoneyPenny (Conrad to Hyde Park) | 2.21Km | 4.4%
  8. Jan Smuts Classic Climb (passed the Zoo) | 1.09Km | 5.4%
  9. Parktown Ridge to Braamfontein | 1.23Km | 2.9%
  10. Empire to Ameshoff Climb (on-ramp to M1) | 520m | 5.8%

Edit: The last drag at the 90Km mark is not a hill, but it's hard going if you've been burning matches on the hills.

So for the capetonians coming through which ones are the 94.7 versions of Suikerbossie & Chapmans Peak?

There is nothing that is the length of full chappies with the same gradient. 

Jan Smuts might be similar to Suikerbossie (with much worse view and non existent spectators)

 

But you'll be down 10% on power up here.

Ok - so more like slow poison over the last 25km rather than actual big climbs. Guess I'll just try and stick to the bunch for as long as I can and not attempt anything fancy 😝

There are more uphills, but a bit shorter, also not as steep (IIRC). The last half is hardly flat; you either going up or down. If it is flat, it’s flat out.

Quick question when you say give up your entry, do you mean you forfeited it or did you give it to someone else?

I gave my entry to somebody else who will do the necessary to transfer to his name.

Sure thing man, I thought I would try my luck and see if you still had the entry. I'm new in town (province) and I didnt budget for this race.

That last drag pass Gold Reef City with a headwind will also drain energy especially if you are alone and burnt matches you will need to dig deep.(Had the headwind last year and was alone)

Frosty mentioned the first part that is flat and some downhills...careful as this is where most people burn all their matches and then from the Zoo to the finish will be extremely hard.

Predominant winds should be a tail all the way from the race track home - helped a lot up Jan smuts last year 

I'd be more concerned over the expansion joints on the double decker highway when you get back onto it, as you exit the city on the way home (carr street)

Why you concerned?  You on a MTB .... 🤪😁

Edit:  Just don't ride behind a roadie that might get trapped in it and fall in front of you .... 😂

hopefully they've learnt a thing or 2 from last year and cover things up better

Have you seen the width on those joints? They'll swallow your 2.4's with ease. As Ouzo says, hopefully they'll have learnt this year round 

But you're right. A 29" will roll easily enough over tech stuff in front of it 😉
