matthew de haast Posted July 6, 2023 Share Hi, Looking to finally upgrade my bike and at the moment my budget is ~R40k. I have seen these three options so far that seem to be comparabale 1. Titan Valerian Elite 2. Silverback Scarosso Rival 3. Merida Scultura 5000 4. Other? Recommendations. Also would be fine to look at second hand but ideally want new. Looking for something with hydralic disk and I am leaning towards the Titan at the moment. @Titan Racing Bikes maybe you can answer. Buy the bike, that makes you want to ride! Ps. Nothing wrong with secondhand, two nice Giant TCR in the classified, with change to spare for new helmet or shoes. (Not Great But) When Riding in Clubs Snob Rating is very Important and Would influence my Purchase Decision. Heina13 Posted July 7, 2023 Share I am on a Merida Reacto 4000, bought from Bike Addict about 3 months ago. Also looked at the Titan Valerian, which also seemed like a really good bike. My budget was also around 40 000. They are hard to get now with shortages but worth it if you can find one. Friend bought a Scultura 5000 for about the same price and it also looks great! I see the Valerians are: Titan V Elite ~ R35k Titan V Comp ~ R35k Titan V Ltd ~ R30k And the Merida 5000 ~R42k Not sure of the bike weights (which seems most important to the roadies) but I’ve got some of my own to shed 😂 Anything else to consider perhaps for cruising the smoothest of Jhb streets?
