2. A little further up, at Eerste Water, there is a cement dance floor where many years ago the Prince Albert locals held their dances. The dominee declared dancing a sin and forbid it in his town, so like the sensible folks they were, they did it outside of town and beyond his reach. In the towering cliffs above the "dansbaan" there is a rock formation of a clock face, with the hands indicating 20 min past 1, so that is the time dancing finished.....to allow everyone some sleep before Sunday church!

Love this shot DJR!!

4. The hairpin bends from above. There are 4 more not showing in the picture. Someone with a drone, please invite yourself along next time so that we can get a picture to tell the real story!

That pass looks quite magical hey!

Awesome pics.

I know the images can't quite represent the real live view through the senses.

Hope to get there in Winter. ????????????????????☺️

Spent the long weekend on my son's fiance's parents game farm called Malonjeni not far from Kareekloof/Suikerbosrand ...

Friday a quick ride on a 'trail' unmarked on the farm but good fun with B, loads of game to be seen

Saturday he had to work so I ambled from the farm, did a full loop of Suikerbosrand and back. Forgot how tough that can be   - went in the gate at 7 (first rider) and only really started seeing riders after I had passed the parking used on the north side (25ZA rondts frikkin bargain)

Sunday and Monday we did a 50k 'outride' towards Meyerton, some slow poison in those few hills there are around there  :whistling:  - Tuesday his legs decide to turn up and it was rather hectic had to apply Rule #5 multiple times  . This is the Suikerbosrand river almost at Meyerton

I'll just have to do this one in stages:

1. Northern entrance to the Swartberg Pass - the "secret canyon" where you can see how the original horizontal layers of sandstone got folded when Africa and Antarctca crushed together so that they ended up vertical, making cliffs of about 700metres high.

Yoh, isn't that the 36One route we are doing in less than 3 weeks time?

Close by, but not on the 360ne route. Worth the look though, if you have the time before or after.
