its a stupid little segment around my 'hood that not many people ride, seems a bit like cheating to go out and get the KOM on it.

What, and let some other schmuck hold the KOM in YOUR 'hood? No way man!

Out this way, KOMs are weather-dependent. Pays to keep an eye out for the best days. And I may die holding Rivier Str as they've put speed bumps on it now...

There were a few ding-dong, or tit-for-tat, fights between a few people on a few KOMs. The 🏆 changed hands on a weekly basis.

One of my best efforts (still a top-10) is a segment we ride often, but my best time came when riding home from a race. Nothing much can beat taking the KOM with 150km in the legs, and plenty kJ burnt.

All's fair, unless it's a gated community

its a free access gated community. i.e. booms, but no security guard, so anyone can enter.

1.7km segment, 11m of elevation gain.

ok you guys have pulled my lycra, I'm a minute and a bit off the top spot. Gonna go out and claim my crown. :)

Edit. Just remembered, I've got until the 19th October to do this, my Strava subs expire then and I'm not renewing.

I'm disappointed I did not even get into the top 10 on a climb I do very often, but this time I was motor pacing behind a truck. Its my fastest up there by a long shot but nowhere even close to being in the top 10.

'ding dong' flip .... so I took that legend back yesterday but he promptly took it back this morning.

Fortunately though I stopped to take a pic, as I do, and saw the notification ... What else to do but go straight there and take it back 😁 , he was not amused

Let's see what happens tomorrow 😎

All good natured though and as I said it helps with the motivation

About 7 years back when I lived in Christchurch (and still used Strava), I went for a ride at a local trail 5min from home. It was an awesome, fast, rocky downhill style trail called "The flying Nun"

After uploading my ride, I noticed none other than Sam Blenkinsop (Downhill World Cup Racer and all-round rad dude) as one of the locals. He was KOM at the back then, but looks like his time still holds pretty well, all these years later

I went out this morning to do my usual loop, was going to take it easy but landed up giving it some good effort, about halfway through I remembered I wanted to grab that KOM at the end of my ride.

Does anyone know why this is happening ?

Looks like the answer is provided by Strava above the Top 10?
