@NicholasH great event. Organisation, awesome. Marshalling at start and finish and along the course perfect.

please can you start the prize giving earlier so we get the lucky draws over earlier. Draw 1

was supposed to start at 10:30, then 10:35 then 11 and by then I bailed because can’t sit there all day.

@MongooseMan the crash in A was a touch of wheels. One dude too eager to push out the watt bombs and the guy ahead was like “nah I think I’ll sit up and 30odd okes later . I got over  and around the carnage but the kicker was the bike laying about 50m further down the road with no rider in sight. Did it fall off a car or did it try and escape the scene without its rider. A couple of collar bones were sacrificed in that one.
Okes just don’t seem to have common sense any longer. It’s flat out from the start till someone blows and then we have the tired ones crashing

Must agree with this request ....

Set a time for price giving, set a time for lucky dtaw .... stick to it.

With each postponement more grumbling people just walked away.

Rider behaviour .... some seriously dangerous people out there ....near the green jersey section .... a lady was sitting on the side of the road, staying out of the busy wheels .... next moment a gent snaps 1,5m left ... dont know how she got out the way, that was way too close.  Not a wisper, she just dropped back ..... next moment this gent realise what is happening and SNAPS 3m to the right !!  I had to cross the mid line to ensure I stay out of his trajectory .....

Thankfully the ebike has a boost mode to get away from these sorts.

The lucky draw is another department 😆, I do operations....

Seriously tho, I will raise with committee.

Normally there is a wave filter as well, but  sometimes that only becomes available a while after all the rest of the results and filters.

The racetech results system worked so much better. Finish time needs to relook/ upgrade the app

Hold you phone sideways and tap on wave. It then filters the results according to the group start times and riders finish position in those groups.
if you want to search on wave only and and only see your groups results , that function is available once they have sorted the results and everyone’s position is finalised, probably by Monday.

ifyou click on wave you will see currently that it will Switch to tandems and the results there are a mess probably due to how the boards are captured at the start line transmitter

Just thought would pop in to say thank you and well done to the organizers of the event. Was really well run, bike marshals were good, all the touch points were top notch!

Was lekker riding back through the front of the school remembered my first 99er ending in front of the school, I think there was a lot less development around there back then though.

Thx very much. Your comments are well founded and appreciated. We have a awesome support team.

Before I became involved at the 99er I rode my 1st one in the early 2000s starting from the school... come full circle 😁

Completed my 1st 99er yesterday, and I agree with the sentiments shared regarding the event - very well organised and everyone was so friendly. The students clapping for us after the finish line as we turned towards the school was a welcome surprise. Pity the groups were a bit too big and resulted in people riding into oncoming traffic, despite the marshalls' best efforts to contain them. I started in E and our group caught quite a few people from D and C and the odd ones from A as well. So it ended being larger than when we started. I unfortunately got caught in a big crash on Old Malmesbury one-way bridge just before the climb into R304, and that was the last time I saw the front of our group. The group finished on 2h28 and I came in at 2h32.  Stoked with the result and would definitely come back. P.S - Lucky draw could be done a bit earlier 🙂

Are the results available ?

Chris, it was a pleasure to finally meet you in person. I think I have seen you gazillions of times on the road over the years, but not side by side.

Great to have a face to the name, and I hope you had a good, safe and fun ride, it was a perfect day out

Hmm,I  am from up country, so my first 99er event. I dont do much road racing any more but used to do a lot in Gangstas Paradise. I asked how many riders at red registration and when he said 4700 and they expect 5000 i was a bit taken aback, especially as i asked about road closure and he said no.

That’s a lot of cyclists down a busy road on a Saturday morning.

Can i ask why this event is run on a Saturday ? With 5000  riders entered you proceeded to irritate an enormous number of motorists with the big bunches all across the road. Some seriously scary overtaking from cars and trucks trying to get past scared the cr@p out of me once more. Large trucks and queues of cars in to oncoming traffic on blind rises. That is a recipe for disaster.

I have seen what happend when one of those cars hads a head on next to you in a cycling bunch and its not pretty.

Maybe its me but why not run it on a Sunday as there wil be less traffic and secondly take it as far out in to the main roads with large shoulders as soon as possible.

We have enough cyclists dying from motorists hitting us from behind already - surely someone should think this through a little bit >

Nice race - also flat and fast so you will have large bunches forming and with that amount of people they will join up and then you have them all over the road.

What am I missing or does the cycling community not think this is an issue?

Thank you for the introduction.  Always nice to put a face to the Hub names.

I have always started way at the back, litterally hung back to make sure I do not mix it up in the racing for the rest .... as our group moved down the road I noticed a LOT of ebikes to the front of our group, so I just kept my spot behind you.

As we past the barriers you saw a gap to the right and made a nice clean move ... and I followed.  After that first turn we somehow ended on the far left, you spotted an open lane and went for it ... again I followed.  Robot to robot the lane was congested, and we all just stayed in place.  I lost track of you in this section.  Once on Wellington road I could not believe it .... first time ever I made it out of Durbanville with my start group, all the way to the Phisantekraal turn.

I got stuck behind a couple of riders and saw a group make a break for it over the railway bridge and then just extending the gap.  By the airfield I was well past the back group ... never caught up to the front group again.  Strange how small the gaps look on a photo, but just no way to bridge it ....

It was a nice hard ride.  After a 3:01 in 2025 .... I just kept my head down and kept GOING as much as my sinuss ridden body would give (keeping an eye on my heart rate, just to be safe .... leaving home on Saturday morning it was not clear if I would be able to complete the ride).  Super happy with my sub-3 ....
