Does lying on the beach for the last 5 days contribute towards heat adaptation? Asking for a friend🤡

With or without sunblock / SP50? 😛

I was amped as well. But lets be honest here, if you’re not at the elite level its gonna be a pretty miserable day in the saddle.

And honestly 35 degrees in Wellington, out in the trails, it’s gonna feel like 40plus. If my initial target is 7 hours, that takes me to 1:30pm in the baking sun. If it’s 35 degrees, I’m probably looking at 8 hours in the saddle in the baking sun.

Have you heat acclimated somewhat? @babse

Sterkte, Bruuuu

somewhat yes...

I also recon the Imbuko route offers some decent shaded/foresty areas. Yes it will be hot out there but there are plenty on miles under tree cover for some respite.

That's the kind of day where you just have to accept the pain and know that you can expect no relief.

Look at that! It is a special trail. Never done the race before and every year I say I need to get myself there. Singletrack, climbing, views, the switchbacks...world class! Heck, even better. All the stuff to make a mtber feel alive. This is why we do it. So if you have the opportunity to be there, remember you are a lucky guy or gal. Enjoy it!
