Donating a Bike

Good morning, All.

Once again, the Bikebub community came together to get this man a proper bike, a Special thanks to the following users, @Spinnekop, @NC_lurker and @RobertWhitehead for donations to make this possible.

I want to start about two years ago, this guard purchased a Merida Matts from a friend and fixed it up nicely; then last year December he got Bikejacked by Gun point in Central Boksburg, so with little disposable cash het purchased the cheapie in the other picture below and rode it from repair to repair, Then @RobertWhitehead offered this other bike as a donation,  @NC_lurker sent me same cash, which I used to purchase some cables, @Spinnekop sent me some tires, and @JK Cycles | Jordan Atmore sent me some tubes, I then finished the build and handed over the bike.

This man is over the moon with his new ride.

I decided to post this not for any credit but to say thanks to the contributors and to highlight how awesome the Bikehub community is.

Awesome job, well done for seeing it through 👍🏼 your time & effort in putting everything together far outweigh any other donation.

The more commuters there are on the streets the more normalised cycling will become & we recreational cyclists will benefit.

Well done Dexter and everyone else involved.

 

That will be the second yellow Trek that I know of being used as a commuter bike in the area, the other belonging to a garden executive.

Thanks Guys, he does have a Helmet that was donated by one of our friends on another local group., he can use some proper Winter gloves but that is something for another day.

Just a bit of feedback, I asked him this morning, isn't it very cold on the bike in the morning, his reply was "I was flying, I did not feel the cold", so far, not one puncture.
