There was once good prize money, I think in the form of bitcoin. And the value has skyrocketed since then even though it’s taken a recent dive. If they still had good prize money I would love to try tackle it, but with desert dash offering a better prize pot for (hopefully!) less suffering, I think it attracts more talent.

Munga entry R28000 - ive never heard a Munga participant complain about the facilities, the conditions, the lack of water, the quality or availability of the food, the wind in the Tankwa, etc etc etc

Absa Cape Epic entry - who can keep up? Every year multiple threads/pages of complaints about conditions, lack of water, food, the sun, the wind, mattress being too soft, mattress being too hard, etc etc…

I pay 28k with a smile. See you okes at the start line next year.

Agree with this. Its worth every cent in my opinion.

On the prize money - if the Munga team had half the marketing savvy of the Gravel Burn team they could make this a million Rand (not dollars) prize purse race. The problem is their marketing looks like it’s done by the people that do the Game or Makro Black Friday sales catalogs. It’s a complete mess and has zero sponsorship appeal.
