Look up the preventions for Shermers neck. Stronger core and stronger neck. We focus so much on pedaling and not enough on body conditioning for ultra events.

 

I raced for 13 days straight earlier this year(2-4 hours sleep a night). No back pain at all, no neck pain at all, no tingling hands or numbness, no pain anywhere in fact. I can safely say that this was because I had really done the hard work on conditioning my core, neck and the rest of my body...

168 solo riders @R28k = ~R4.7m

If those sums are close, then quite wild that there's no budget for prizemoney here.

 

for 28k you can get flights to Kyrgyzstan and pay entry fee to another race. But it also has no prize money and unfortunately that race is not labelled toughest on earth though...

The race was born on the promise of a 1 million dollar prize...... Everyone entered and then the bottom fell out wrt.

Since then it has found an identity, but the 'money race' is still the thing I remember/see it as
