The thing is, they don't need to take off, they just need to exist as an option.

By banning them you're not allowing them to take up space.

Taking off and being allowed to be ridden are worlds apart.

A company like NINER had pretty good 29er geo off the bat as they just made 29ers. A company or two that want to make 32ers could dial it in pretty quickly.

There are also far better virtual tools and continuation in progressive ideas in MTB geo now to make the change less of a jump in thinking.

I just find the whole 'Ban it' concept ridiculous. especially by the general public who are in no way forced to engage in a new wheel standard if they don't want to.

Ignore the gains or performance aspects, the concept of banning something over whataboutisms is almost as though the big players in the industry who don't want competition are calling the shots.

If 32ers suck then they suck, if they are good then they are good. But not allowing them to be ridden? That is some backhand nonsense

No

They need to take off to have any chance of existing.

Having another option that manufacturers aren’t supporting, will just be yet another hair-brained fad.

We’ve been here before with Blacksheep almost 10 years ago.

As for it being banned for racing in UCI events, doesn’t stop it from existing.

Niner got their geometry dialed in because they were a small manufactures at the time, they could build, go and ride, come back and tinker and cut, then go out again till they had what they deemed good. I had around 8-9 Niners over time, with one of those being a custom built SIR9.

What do you mean?

If 32 becomes a new standard then gravel bikes will be designed to fit 32 wheels.

You make it sound as if a 32 is a specific type of bike rather than just a wheel size. But it can be a mountain bike and a gravel bike and even a road bike.

🚴🏾‍♀️ yes the UCI is going to allow bigger wheels in road racing while also trying g to slow the racing down to make it safer. Ox wagon wheels are the answer yes yes yes I can see it now

You missed the point. Nothing to do with UCI. Gravel and road bikes already exist with 32. I didn’t say they would be adopted as a new standard simply that that wheel size can be used in any discipline.

....and their draconian anti-doping rules...

If I'm being completely honest with you guys (and I always try to be), an FTP shortfall of about 300W was another big factor in not going pro.

But the principle remains. I don't want them telling me I can't race a 36er.

Aaaahhhh .... you should contact UCI. 😛

Seems 26" is the answer to all their current issues with high speeds.
