Broke a MTB spoke yesterday while out riding.  Right over the road from the orifice is a cycle shop, so decided to take both front and back wheel there, you know, true, replace spoke on back wheel and so on.  Quote: R95 of which R5 is for the spoke, R90 for truing both wheels.

Went to fetch the wheels just now.  Total bill R405!!!!  Ek meen, my BLIKSEM!!!  First off, I installed Joes in my wheels, no problem, no nicks.  All of a sudden there was a tear in the rimtape.  R260 for new rimtape.  Then  another R100 for Stans sealant. And then, all of a sudden R45 for the spokes, etc.

My biggest gripe is that I de-inflated my tires last night and re-inflated the things, with a floor pump.  Now all of a sudden I have to pay for their K@K mechanics nick in my rim tape as, according to them, "the tyre wouldn't seat!"!  I mean SH|T!

Name(s) please!!!

I just returned from Karstens Cycles in Pretoria to fetch my race number for the Bakwena. Bought about R600.00 worth of goods. The assistant at the till was so busy chatting with one of the "laaities" that I had to remind him of my presence/attendance etc. After the sale, not a "thank-you" or even a"voetsek". Subsequently I told him it SHALL be my last visit- and that in front of a stacked shop.

There is nothing wrong with my RRR's- I expect nothing to be wrong with the service if I choose to spend it in your shop!

Kudo's to all the other shops where service, politeness etc. comes before the price tags!Angry

It's an ordinary set of Ritchey OCR rims.  So I installed Joes to convert the rims to tubeless (same thing as Stans).  I still can't get over it!!!  Truing a wheel and stripping and servicing a shock is all I can't do, so they saw me coming......  FFS

Illovocycles.co.za.

I dont generally use them but when the cover thingy (Mariusm) of my FSA crankset came off (and was lost) I struggled to find someone who stocked FSA that could help. I went to Illovo. They found one for me and installed it/ checked out crank while I waited.

Cost was nil, zip, gratis. So they get a Thumbs%20Up from me.

Hey i also work across the road from Illovo Cycles! Used them once to replace the bearings in my Ksyriums, and they did a pretty good job at a really good price.

Seems a few of us work across the road from this shop! I know DR does, ive met him a few times, i wonder who else works acroos the road here in Illovo?

Maybe we should organiase a mid week traing ride from the office?
