Not quite the same level, but this is sportsmanship from the Knysna MTB:

According to Evans, he attacked on the second big climb. George was the only rider who was able to stay with him.

“We worked well together for about 20 kilometers. While we were riding together, I realized that I had a slow leaking tyre. As luck would have it, my gas bomb did not work.

“I take my hat off to David because, when I asked him if I could use his bomb, he did not hesitate for a moment to help me out. It was true sportsmanship. The easy thing for David would have been to simply say ‘no’ and keep on cycling.”

George said he never hesitated to help Evans.

“Kevin and I are good friends and I am a firm believer in ‘what goes around comes around’.”

I look forward to the next few days., I hope Schlek eats AC alive.

What happened yesterday showed us a lot about character, both Cantador and Schlek. My little respect for Cantador is gone, and Schlek showed real character, not panicking and holding his composure afterwards. I really would like to see him take yellow overall, if he doesnt make it this year, next definately. I have to say though, this incident I hope is a bit of a wake up call for Schlek, I personally think he was a bit complacent with his 31sec lead, and tis showed you how quick thats gone.

I can see an advert for some green bottled beers being made from this...

Andy Schleck (AS): Dammit man, trying to change gears on the climb

Louis Gosset Jnr (LGj): Andy, what are you doing?

AS: Uh, Uh, um

LGj: Well, real contenders don't change gears in mid-attack

LGj: Here, try this [handing him a green bottle beer] and remember, I'm watching you!

Alberto Contador (AC): this is my chance to attack the MJ

LGj: Alberto, what are you doing?

AC: Um, Uh, Uh

LGj: Well, real contenders don't attacked when others suffer misfotune

LGj: Here, try this [handing him a green bottle beer] and remember, I'm watching you!

Surprised Menchov has such a short memory - 2008 Tour - Stage 15 (Evans was in yellow before the stage started, Frank Schleck afterwards):

17:39 CEST 179.8km/3.2km to go

Martinez goes! But Pate covers him.

Further back, Menchov attacks! However he falls on a corner..wow....

17:40 CEST

His wheel slipped out, going from first in the group to last. That's hard luck. Andy Schleck and Kreuziger are at the head of the Evans group. It looks like they might be waiting for Menchov. If so, that's very sporting.

17:41 CEST

Menchov gets back on. He and Sastre are at the back of the group.

Andy Schleck is back on the front.

Cry me a river...

Apparently Contador was "in trouble" from Andy's attack, give me a break. Contador was badly positioned when Andy attacked and was closing the gap fast when he had his "mechanical". And obviously it was only Contador which drove home the advantage, not.

Even if Andy took 20-30 seconds out of Contador (which was highly unlikely) by the top of the climb, he would never have stayed away 'till the end.

Seems everybody dislikes Contador because he managed to kill pool old Lance last year with half a team. He's going to wipe the floor with Schleck in the TT.

Contadoos is dead to me. k@k styl

Just listen here, it was not contador's fault.

He may attack if he wants to, that's racing.

And remember his name is Contador NOT Ulrich .... Did anyone wait for LA on the cobbles when he had a puncture??

Armstrong wasn't in yellow.....

agreed - like anything on the hub, everyone will continue to have their own feelings on the topic.

however, all those who complained, please remember to slow down next time someone you're racing with has a mechanical

You, Muddee and all the very smart experts who reckon that the "great unwashed" out there has no opinion at all when it comes to discussing racing tactics must stop being ignorant and deliberately incite debate.

You buy and make food yet you are not qualified cooks, you buy and discuss motorcars yet you are no motoring specialists etc etc etc ...... there are many more examples I can use.

You and the rest has no right to tell us who also contribute to debate we should stay away.

Im still wondering with all this judgments and insults getting thrown, what would AS have done if the situation was refersed. Apparently he already gave indications that he also might have gone, what then...
