Unlike E1A104R2D2 I have no problem in joining a club. I can also certainly afford R30 as I'm sure most of us could.

My question is .... where does that money go to ?

If you are an average cyclist' date=' not riding league or provincials or SA champs (and this is the huge majority) then what does CSA do for them ?

How is all this money helping the average cyclist ? [/quote']

It would never feel as if CSA does much for the average cyclist.

The office and related costs are partly covered by the license fees - it does beg the question what the CSA office does?

A portion of Lotto money is used to send people abroad for racing - and a combination of Lotto and your money is used to develop and attempt to transform the sport.

Clubs are generally supposed to be the ones who need to grow the sport, and be there for the average okes = the way I see it.

If money didn't exist you'd see a lot more disorganised or improper events and events organisers - calendars are created in such a way that most of the skollies are not stealing your event entry fees off you.

If money didn't flow, you might see many more events shut shop due to a lack of road permissions.

Bottom line is that we as CSA should submit a budget for all to view, isn't it - and demonstrate where the monies used to go to - and whence it came?

I think that would help answer a lot of questions!

Ja, that would shut up 99% of the frustrated moaning ... and also start a whole new batch of complaints: " hey Vaalies are providing most of the fees - not fair, hey too much/little spent on development,  hey too much/little spent on safety, hey too much/little spent on the top juniors, etc etc moan etc."

yes' date=' but then it needs to register a club in every province, since a member would have to belong to a club in his province, etc.... [/quote'] Well one could surely have a virtual club where one joins just to meet the requirement i.e. get a license. No compulsory need for kit and other "you shall" and "shall not's"?

No Scotty we not a club . Since most of us has been in institutions all over the place we have decided against creating another institute ! Anyway despite what has been said here you do not just run out of here and create a club !!! There are rules etc and you know how I feel about rules !

I?m also a club member and have a Cyclosport License. Bought the license but never used it? <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I?m not yet fast enough to ride with the vets, so next year ill just pay my club fees.

Maybe if we get more club member we can also get a Gazebo at the races.

Belong to the PPA (obviously) and as such have a recreational licence paid for on my behalf....which brings us back to the budget etc:  I make that around R 340 000 paid over by the PPA to CSA (17 000+ members @ R20), so I'd like to know what the money is used for/earmarked for.

Belong to a club...although...hmmm ' date=' there are usually more members at the socials than at the rides...

Depends on the club Cervelo, our club has great turnouts. We recently had joint rides with Cresta and Springs and our club easily outnumbered them 3 to 1

turnouts, ya, that will always be a problem, max 15 of 80 members pitching. And there's always the story of what time to start riding, and then a mail is sent out, and no replies.Confused Max at our club in my time 27 riders.
