What is it with people these days???!???

Ok, so I'm not proud of it but I wiped out on the road this morning in PE going across a railway line. Not clever I know! Had to phone the wife to come fetch me (bit embarressing).

So I'm sitting on the side of the road with blood dripping down my arm and my shirt all muddy waiting for her to arrive and at least 10 cars drove by, not one of them stopped to see if I was ok! Not only that but 2 cyclists rode past - 1 asked if I was OK but was already past me before I answered, the other grunted a hello and just carried on.

On the plus side a big bunch of triathletes came past and all stopped to make sure I was OK. Thank you to anyone reading this that was in that bunch.

My gripe is - I know it's 'not safe' these days to stop, but heck, one of the cars could have stopped next to me, rolled their window and at least offered to help/call someone.

Just goes to show, not too many people sharing the love these days!

Anyone, now that I've got that off my chest...

Glad you are okay...

Were you in the bunch that went around Marine this morning? I can't remember anyone falling.

Motorists in PE are already fed up with cyclists so I'm not surprised that no one stopped.

PS:How's the bike?

Hope you and your bike are ok CF...

I had a similar experience when I fell on the spruit a couple of years back. I managed to break a couple of ribs. Sitting in the grass on the side of the trail, loads of riders passed me and shouted "are you ok?" but were gone before I had time to even respond. I started pushing my bike back home before a group of riders passed me... 2 guys in the group realised that something was wrong and turned around to assist me back to the main road where my husband could fetch me

Thanks for the concern guys. Just got back from the doc-broke a bone in my elbow so riding for at least 4 weeks. Haven't even had a chance to look at the bike.

It was the railway line in kragga kamma going out to cows corner.

Just couldn't believe that fellow cyclists didn't stop. Just shows u get all types in0any sport.

People tend to think that the next guy passing by will stop and help you. Thereby they can justify their lack of compassion.Sad...

CF I promise you I would have stopped. I would even have given you a lift home.

As a mtber I can't remember how many times people have stopped to help me after my falls. So I see it as a way of paying it back/forward.

Good luck with the recovery.

Move to the Cape. I took a pretty dramatic tumble at 45km/h+ going down Plattekloof Rd, hit one of those "sinkholes" in the bicycle lane. A guy literally turned around, he was travelling int he opposite direction. Picked up my bike for me, put it in the back of his little Ford Fiesta, and then proceeded to take me home (about 15km in the opposite direction to which he was travelling). Even took my bike inside for me, as I had a grade 4 seperation of the AC Ligaments! Capetonians are WAY chilled!!

I went cycling at jonkershoek yesterday, saw a guy walking with a flat....about 4km to go. Basically I gave him a tube and put it in so he made it back....in the end he is a hubber, JarredS....so I done my good deed for the day :)
