So yesterday on my way home, my rear hub was making a noise, and I took it into Crown to have it checked, I was expecting Mark to just confirm that it was the bearing and then order etc...

He replaced the bearings while I waited and when I left noise gone and am very happy.

Also cost of bearings was anything from R350 a set to R900 for the original ones, mine was replaced labour and parts for much less than the R350 so I was pleasantly surprised there as well.

Thanks guys ;)

Its a great shop.

I always recommend them when mates are looking for bike bits or service.

Well priced and friendly with a good mechanic.

+2! They are extremely well priced. I find that they are usually the cheapest around, i bought a hand pump from them for R299, everywhere else it was R399, that's about 25% cheaper and that massive in my books. I also enjoy browsing their bargain corner where i usually end up buying things i dont really need, because the price is so much cheaper than anywhere else lol

My experience was rather different - as i work in the city and have a white collar 8-6 job for my sins it is rather difficult to get there. I am in the market for new 29er - one would think they would be able to tell you what they had in stock, prices, basic knowledge of the specs ect. On the first attempt the guy seemed very busy possibly with customers in store purchasing - fair enough. On the 2nd attempt i am left even more frustrated - so much so i would rather order the bike elsewhere and pay more for delivery. I know my manager would be a bit upset if i told a customer - hey we dont sell bikes over the phone. Also his assumption that i was looking for an upgrade to ride the Argus on was just downright stupid as in the beginning of my call i said im keen to upgrade from a 26er to a 29er and wanted to get a sense of prices/size currently available. Whilst their service in store might be great - their telephonic service and sales ability were terrible. Needless to say ill take my R15k else where if they dont seem interested in it.

JGR, if you find a bike shop in C Town that isn't completely out of its tree this week (before the Argus) then you are indeed a lucky man. Go check them all out at the same time at the Argus Expo on Friday after work?

Thanks - good point and good advice. Although these are the moments they will be measured on and being busy is ideal not inconvienient - which is how i was made to feel. Just hope they have some entry level to mid range bikes as oppossed to the 'haute couture' bikes that are out of 99% of peoples price range.

Sorry this has happened to you, however, give them 1 more shot by visiting them on a Saturday morning, now, be careful here too, they are extremely busy on Saturdays as well.... But give them another chance and try and speak to them face to face as they are always willing to go the extra mile when trying to help out there customers.....

Great bike shop...They always make you feel welcome, offer honest & sound advise. There prices are competative and most importantly for me they never try and sell you the most expensive item on the floor....Oh yes and they know me by my first name.

My bike shop of choice. Have been with them for 4 or 5 years and they looked after me and my bike well. I do 70% of my cycling puchases with them. The workshop and prices are very good.
