  1. I agree that RB dropped the ball and made him pay, both with the hard tyre and then making him let Russell by, but his intentional banging wheels is tasteless, dangerous and painfully stupid considering the outcome. He should know better and this will probably end up being one of those pivotal moments where he could end up needing a few points at the end of the season to be crowned WDC again, but then end up short, and had he just kept his composure in tact he would have had them. At least Le Clerc benefitted, and I'm stoked for Piastri, if only because I have him as my main fantasy league driver 🥳
  2. Franz Hermann didn't do his championship aspirations any favours yesterday with his petulant performance in the closing stages of the Catalunya race. Right or wrong, what he did was inexcusable and he's made himself at tad more unlikeable than he already was. I've been rooting for him for a long time, but he's become somewhat of a prima donna of late.
  3. definitely not. Only real 4x4's need apply
  4. Preloading the shock as the front wheel departs the lip . . . . . . will always buck the rear wheel and chuck the rider out the front door, especially if the rebound is set to pogo-stick
  5. People like that tend to bring out the guy that I keep suppressed. That guy really doesn't play nice, regardless of the fact that he also rides a bicycle.
  6. This is the week to play Lotto. I mean, who else had "watch Malema and Zuma shenanigans on a TV in the Oval Office" and "2-hour hubber does honest deal" on their bingo cards? I sure didn't.
  7. The boxes are still out in full force destroying clearly marked as closed trails. https://www.instagram.com/p/DJwSh1-sqUS/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
  8. Thanks for this. Is it possible to ride that with the fee payable at Banhoek, or must I pay separately at each farm like Tygerberg?
  9. I've only ridden Banhoek trails that side of the world. Sounds like the rest is better than I thought. I was always under the impression it's just miles and miles of singletrack geared more for xc type riding with little to no drawcards for riders looking for some spice. Seems I was wrong and will have to go find out for myself. I've always wanted to ride Skyfall, but never actually did.
  10. I bought a new set of Lyne Amp HD wheels in July last year, and in December I cased the snot out of that gap at the bottom of Afterburn. It was so harsh that the SWAT case popped off the bike and I nearly broke my ankle. The wheel suffered zero damage. Not to the rim, not to any spokes and still rolls true. Exhibit A - for context, I had just cleared it properly and rode back up to hit it again, and on the roll in around the bottom berm I knew I was too slow, and still just "went for it". The pop off the lip was also done half-arsed, with obvious outcomes. Banhoek Gap Case.mp4
  11. Whenever my chain starts crawling up the rings when I pedal backwards that's normally a clue that my rear axle is loose. For some reason my Stumpy has the propensity to unwind the rear axle if I don't regularly check on it and then it immediately messes with the chain line.
  12. I have a set of Rapide wheels as well. They are also bomb proof. As for the Tigre frame, there is an entire thread dedicated to singing its praises:
  13. I drive the R27 just about every day from Sunningdale to Melkbos for the school run, and every so often I see cyclists on that stretch. Each time I see them I wonder if they really have a death wish or if they're just arrogant. The way people drive on that specific section of road makes me not want to drive there myself. To the OP, I would go via Old Mamré and then at the bottom turn to Melkbos. But even that road is very busy with fast moving traffic that is heading both East and West. Avoid the N7 and R27. It's just not worth it.
  14. You can't go wrong with Lyne Components, they're solid. I have the Amp 35 bar and stem combo, dropper post and Amp HD wheel set and I have not regretted my purchases for even one second. Awesome service and awesome products. No need to doubt your choice, and there are many Hubbers who will agree with me.
  15. https://armour-ride.com/ Here in Cape Town. I would pay to have it done. I did mine myself, but it is starting to peel, and I am confident that's because I did it myself. There is nothing wrong with the wrap itself. It just starts looking tatty.
  16. I started riding early mornings again, and my front light is due for replacement. I just have one serious gripe with cyclists riding with their lights in flashing mode. Really people, do you know, or even care, how absolutely annoying it is having to look at your approach while you flash away at ten gazzilion lumens in the black of night while you are riding on a cycle path with no cars sharing that lane with you? It's kuk. That's what it is. Just please, for the love of all that is good, just stop it. Its not lekker. Be lekker. rant over.
  17. Thread revival time. Listening to this podcast now, of Shawn Ryan interviewing Tim Tebow. Watched some clips on YouTube and I was horrified by what is going on in the world of things we don't normally know. https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=FeVFs0dVcCc&si=m41mNvLkxaSttWLf
  18. he did the foolish thing and spent his money on a house instead of an e-bike. I mean, what a chop. Who does that?
  19. But what if your chronic exhaustion is precisely because you've been riding your bike? Asking for a friend...
  20. If you prefer claims to be paid out, Santam. If you like being taken for a ride, any of the plethora of insurers that make use of the direct model where no broker is involved. I have a broker and whenever I have any issue I send them the details, and within days the money is in my account. I don't get called. I don't get asked a bunch of questions. I don't have to prove my pedigree. nothing. I claim. I get paid. end of story.
  21. It only makes sense that if you specified alu wheels yet now you want to claim carbon wheels the insurers won't be too keen on that.
  22. I don't listen to the radio. I don't read Propaganda24 or any of its affiliates, I don't social media. I have facebook and instagram accounts under pseudonyms which I may venture onto maybe once or twice a year when I need to have some info I can't find elsewhere. I am also a website user, but primarily I'm normally just a "pitch up and ride if no-one stops me" type of guy. But to be fair, in saying that, even I knew of the fires (well, I could see it from my home all the way just below Blouberg hill), and anyone living in Cape Town with more braincells than Taun Bewsher should know to keep well clear. So just to be clear, what game was your kid playing?
  23. Just make sure you go fetch your own wood. You know, just in case the oke who said he would go fetch some didn't come back. If you know, you know 😉 😂
  24. It is also the room where ALL emergency calls have the chance of being answered if anyone cares to answer the phone when it rings. Or is that just whenever I call that I am unsure if I dialed home affairs?
