  1. This is the kind of thing you expect at a traffic light. A police raid is in order.
  2. They will also take the step to only allow 'real' mountain bikers. Credentials to verified by hubbers at the Spruit or Tokai, no more of this Euro Pro easy route stuff.
  3. Sharing your thoughts with the world has become to easy, the Epic not so much.
  4. That's the same scenario I am picturing so very plausible. I can't understand how people say the events leading to the fight are irrelevant. It would make a massive difference to public perception of the video and thus cyclists, greater even than publicly punishing them with every possible consequence.
  5. Every cyclist on this forum would politely apologise for inconveniencing the driver, offer to replace all the water sachets that were used to teach them the error in their ways and sommer buy the driver a Bells while they're at it. I'm with you. The cyclist were wrong, no doubt about it but people don't react like that without extreme provocation. But then again if something similar to your scenario happened why haven't we heard their version of events yet?
  6. Agreed, what if a video of the preceding 2 minutes showed the van purposefully riding them of the road or passing them and then purposefully stopping in front of them trying to injure them. Would all violence still be considered wrong by thehub jury? Perhaps then the people in the van would be considered the mob? If they were simply taunted it's a show of bad character, if their safety was threatened it would still be wrong but the public outcry would be less and the brush we all get painted with allot smaller. So in the interest of the sentiment against cyclists the full story will help over and above the swift action against these thugs.
  7. With the current generation Shimano brakes the metal pads have been quiet and plenty powerful for me. Resin pads can disintegrate within a few km's in mud.
  8. Amazing and sad what people will do when they are part of a group.
  9. There was also a support vehicle with spare wheels for the pros in East London. I've always believed it's a fitness contest and no female should be punished for not being proficient with a chain breaker for example.
  10. Then I agree on replacing it rather if the quality is suspect. I replaced mine with hopes as part of a complete wheelset change but they didn't give any problems so I wasn't aware of their suspect nature. Being stranded on a trail or worse during and event is not worth it.
  11. I would just replace the bearings in the hub because I can't really see the performance upgrade another hub will give you. It will still be a housing for bearings with eyelets for spokes. If with new bearings you experience the same problem after a short time proving the sealing is poor replace them but otherwise just keep them.
  12. Is it just me that doesn't want FINISHER printed big on my shirt? Just a small 70.3 2014 logo would be nice so I can wear it without trying to tell the world I finished a race. This is off course not relevant for now because my medium is bigger than a large so wearing it isn't an option regardless. Merrel certainly didn't win any customers by getting involved, now we just know their sizing is wacky and the shirts are poor.
  13. I'm sure the Vipa is a great bike and I have nothing bad to say about it. When I bought my Epic is was a R3000 premium over the Anthem29 X1. Having ridden the Giant and knowing how comfortable and confident I am on the Epic I still consider it a bargain. I've heard so many claims about this and that pedalling platform being so efficient but the Brain is the only one I've ridden where I can stand up and hammer at any time without feeling that dual suspension lag.
  14. I have huge appreciation for the demands of a world cup XCO race but I also find it boring to watch on TV. Most times a certain rider has the advantage on that track and because you just have several laps of the same track it becomes a procession. For mass market sports you need some drama which I find lacking. Somebody who didn't play cricket can enjoy the thrills of a close T20 finish because there is drama but you need to be a XC rider yourself to appreciate the skill needed to circulate that track.
  15. So if 3 people disagree with a moderator decision we need to replace the moderator?
  16. And I believe the moderators have shown unbiased opinions and consistency over an extended period. What you want is moderators who agree with your opinion and I can't help you there. You may notice there are hundreds of people who don't complain about the moderators on a daily basis.
  17. People with similar views and values will always gravitate together. It's when a group persists with united irrational and nonsensical confrontations with certain people as a show of allegiance that it becomes childish.
  18. A good old format will make all those programs run better. People need to start with offload.my.baggage.from.way.back v3.4. And since many apps run in the 'tribe' also install offload.my.cyber.bff's.baggage v1.2
  19. And many including admin have applied your signature to your interpretation of above events ...
  20. One thing I've learned on the hub. Those who feel entitled to offend everybody who disagrees with them sure get offended very easily.
  21. Since I stumbled across my Crest / Spez Fast Track combo I've never needed soap or my compressor. Just inflate leisurely with a track pump and it pops into place.
  22. Entered the ITU Cape Town triathlon this morning and it was something like a R90 admin fee for a R800 entry, very annoying.
  23. I just based my comment on this in the first post: "currently i have a medium Giant XTC composite 29er it feels ok to ride, but i suspect a small would be ideal." I've been there, the medium felt ok but I was always wondering if I should be on a small. It's negative thinking that affects your confidence and makes it difficult to enjoy your riding as you should. There is a range of dimensions that will work for a rider, it doesn't have to fit to nearest mm.
  24. Don't spend too much time agonizing over this. Yes bike fit is important to a degree but being 1.70 myself you could make a medium or a small work well. You definitely don't need to ride the medium wondering if it's too big all the time, just ride it.
  25. From my experience of owning an ergo trainer this is your best option. If after 3 months you're hooked you can look at investing in your own solution. Some human interaction makes sitting still and sweating in one place allot more bearable.
