  1. I'm sure the Vipa is a great bike and I have nothing bad to say about it. When I bought my Epic is was a R3000 premium over the Anthem29 X1. Having ridden the Giant and knowing how comfortable and confident I am on the Epic I still consider it a bargain. I've heard so many claims about this and that pedalling platform being so efficient but the Brain is the only one I've ridden where I can stand up and hammer at any time without feeling that dual suspension lag.
  2. I have huge appreciation for the demands of a world cup XCO race but I also find it boring to watch on TV. Most times a certain rider has the advantage on that track and because you just have several laps of the same track it becomes a procession. For mass market sports you need some drama which I find lacking. Somebody who didn't play cricket can enjoy the thrills of a close T20 finish because there is drama but you need to be a XC rider yourself to appreciate the skill needed to circulate that track.
  3. So if 3 people disagree with a moderator decision we need to replace the moderator?
  4. And I believe the moderators have shown unbiased opinions and consistency over an extended period. What you want is moderators who agree with your opinion and I can't help you there. You may notice there are hundreds of people who don't complain about the moderators on a daily basis.
  5. People with similar views and values will always gravitate together. It's when a group persists with united irrational and nonsensical confrontations with certain people as a show of allegiance that it becomes childish.
  6. A good old format will make all those programs run better. People need to start with offload.my.baggage.from.way.back v3.4. And since many apps run in the 'tribe' also install offload.my.cyber.bff's.baggage v1.2
  7. And many including admin have applied your signature to your interpretation of above events ...
  8. One thing I've learned on the hub. Those who feel entitled to offend everybody who disagrees with them sure get offended very easily.
  9. Since I stumbled across my Crest / Spez Fast Track combo I've never needed soap or my compressor. Just inflate leisurely with a track pump and it pops into place.
  10. Entered the ITU Cape Town triathlon this morning and it was something like a R90 admin fee for a R800 entry, very annoying.
  11. I just based my comment on this in the first post: "currently i have a medium Giant XTC composite 29er it feels ok to ride, but i suspect a small would be ideal." I've been there, the medium felt ok but I was always wondering if I should be on a small. It's negative thinking that affects your confidence and makes it difficult to enjoy your riding as you should. There is a range of dimensions that will work for a rider, it doesn't have to fit to nearest mm.
  12. Don't spend too much time agonizing over this. Yes bike fit is important to a degree but being 1.70 myself you could make a medium or a small work well. You definitely don't need to ride the medium wondering if it's too big all the time, just ride it.
  13. From my experience of owning an ergo trainer this is your best option. If after 3 months you're hooked you can look at investing in your own solution. Some human interaction makes sitting still and sweating in one place allot more bearable.
  14. I had a quick look on the CycleOps site and there is one interesting option. If you use a standard trainer like the fluid pro or super magneto you can still use an Ant+ speed sensor with the iPad app to get power. The speed / power profile of these trainers is built into the app and very consistent so you only loose resistance control. You will need to use your gearing to change the speed (power) and keep the power in the interval range yourself but it's a much cheaper option that still gives an accurate measurement of your power.
  15. http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2014/01/mio-link-first-look.html Will definitely see more use from me than a chest strap.
  16. I would pay R200 a year for a proper phone catalogue of SA trails with user reviews so I can visit with confidence. There are many new trails popping up around the country but unless you have you local contacts it's difficult to know where to ride. The idea of riding 300km to find an overgrown path marketed as a trail is too risky for most of us. We have some of the best purpose built trails in the country where I live in Somerset East but it's just ~5 of us who ride it which is a waste. If this concept can make these and other trails accessible to more people it's a great idea.
  17. They had a social week like any barbarians team, Hanson didn't transform any players. It's easy to play with freedom when there is zero pressure.
  18. Maybe I'm just not in the know but I've yet to see an oversees store giving a better deal than easybike on brakes.
  19. I also thought Willie would be one of the first names on the team sheet. He was the difference between the class of 2012 and now. Being a Shark I'm a JPP fan but not at the expense of Willie.
  20. Would be nice to beat Wales convincingly. I'm tired of hearing that we got lucky every time we beat them.
  21. It was a perfect day out there. I managed to hang on until the 70km mark but simply didn't have the legs for the climb. Then 10km from the end some friendly guys came past and we picked up the pace to the end again. Did a 2:51 which was way faster than I anticipated. Just a quick thumbs down to the clowns who decided one lane of the N1 is not big enough for them. They had to slalom around the cones into the vehicle lane to move forward in the group while the vehicles were passing.
  23. I wanted a Saris rack from Bicycle Power Trading that they do not import as a standard item. I sent an email and Dave went out of his way to bring the rack in with their next shipment. Awesome company to deal with. I don't subscribe to this 'oversees is first world idea', South Africans are some of the most pleasant and resourceful people you will find anywhere.
  24. Only negative thing I've read is that they put your brakes quite far inboard. So if you ride with your hands on the edges of the bar with short lever single finger brakes like Shimano XT your brakes might feel out of reach. I have never used them myself but just something to consider.
  25. I ordered a Hope/Crest wheelset a while back and they sommer arrived with a 150mm rear hub. Must be allot stronger than people think
