  1. just console yourself with the fact that your emissions were not nearly as bad as the ones coming from the Mini Cooper.
  2. its not friday yet
  3. This was Jan 2020, prices have gone crazy
  4. Thanks for the input folks. It might not be anything to do with the saddle afterall. Concentrated on what I was doing this morning and realised I was riding with my knees further apart than normal, so made an effort to ride with them closer together. It felt much better. I'm thinking its probably muscle fatigue and or tightness in the upper legs causing this. So will make an effort now to do some more stretching and massaging.
  5. No, new saddle is wider. Fizik Arione are generally narrower than required But according to Fabrics website my required width fits into the width spectrum of the saddle. but you might be onto something.
  6. Cleats were set during bike fit. i would lean to them being a problem if it was only one leg hurting, but it’s both legs. And the only thing that has changed since then is the saddle.
  7. nope, not calf, more to the side. Follow your outer ankle straight up.
  8. After the bike fit(s) I was the most comfortable i've been on the bike in decades of cycling. Shortly after the saddle change I did my longest ride ever, a 100 miler. After that I've been feeling like I'm missing a few watts (I only had a few to start with). Thought it was just fatigue, but then concentrated on what was happening with my body when I wanted to use the watts and realised I've been protecting the legs from the pain described in my first post.
  9. I've had a proper bike fit done and a subsequent follow up visit. the measurements I used were what the bike fitter gave to me after the last visit.
  10. Since changing my saddle I've developed lower leg pain. I would not call it shin splints, and its not calves, it runs in between the 2 and the pain is close to the ankle. Google search tells me its saddle height. Now when I installed the new saddle I had to drop the height to get it to the same distance from top of saddle to center of BB. But perhaps my measurements are out, although they cant be that far out. Can a few mm make me have the problem ? The other measurement I tried to get spot on is bars to saddle position. But determining where to measure to on the saddle was a bit of guess work. Old saddle was a Fizik Arione, new one is a Fabric Scoop Shallow. Any suggestions before I reluctantly spend money I dont have on a follow up bike fit ?
  11. I can feel the headwind in that second pic
  12. The Volvo branded ones are indeed Thule. In SA it was cheaper to buy from Volvo than from Thule, apparently Thule in SA has put a stop to this somehow.
  13. My scenario Decades ago a mate and I started riding together. We needed a way to transport our bikes. I designed a fold up bike rack (much like the holdfast ones on sale at the time), bought the steel and the 2 of us built it together. Used it for many years until one day I decided I wanted to rather have a trailer with the bikes on top. I invested in said trailer and we used it together for many years. My thinking was I need a way to transport my bike, making or purchasing that little extra to accommodate more bikes cost a fraction more and make it so much more versatile. Actually circling back to the bike rack, i designed it with an extension, making it go from 2 bikes to 4 bikes in a matter of minutes. At the time we were both single, but the thought was "what if we get girlfriends who also ride" .
  14. Massive achievement. I'd love to know what the like of Eddie etc. from that era would do on modern equipment. I look at the gearing they used and cant help but imagine the massive power they were putting out back then.
  15. what patches has there is a T5 R-Design and there is an extremely high chance that it is not a vanilla vehicle but has one or more optional packs added to it. I dont have pricing from launch, I do have a quote I did for a customer in Jan 2020, base price was R700k With extras it was just shy of R800k.
  16. we see the sadness, trust me. but to dwell on it and live in fear will make you crazy
  17. personal opinion buy the extra rack, its worth it for that 6 times a year. unless you riding buddy has a car and rack, then use his when you go to the trails together
  18. whahahahahahahahahaa what patches bought was not even that cheap 5 years ago when it was launched
  19. I hear you. And having it happen twice makes its even worse. I guess its easy to talk from the sidelines when it hasnt happened to you. One of the previous incidents in my area happened minutes after I had been there, another happened at a time I would have been at the location had I ridden that day. I scared me, but I am determined to not let it keep me from riding (for now).
  20. Just ride. Be alert, be aware, but continue riding the same roads. 100s of cyclists use the same roads daily. You have just as much chance getting hijacked driving to your cycling destination.
  21. but you never used a phone book, you just answered the lady on the other side that asked "nommer asseblief"
  22. Spent the weekend watching random stuff, watched a few GCN episodes. The latest ones from Italy had me jealous. The climbs look as tough as hell, but the views (and descents) looked incredible.
  23. Been feeling unusually fatigued so have decided to take a few days off the bike.
  24. From my limited reading it seems to be agreed that the bigger chainring offers less wattage loss through the chain as the links are not bending to such a tight angle.
  25. How do you hitch the trailer to your bike?
