  1. Just got back from the Dr. No broken bones... yippee , Karoo 2 Coast still on track. Been put on anitbiotics & light duty for 5 days though, strict instructions to stay off the bike . Think I might go for a second opinion .
  2. What an awesome, awesome ride. Well worth the early morning drive through to Ceres. Everything was virtually flawless (besides a few of us that somehow managed to get lost... n? Lilo? ). The watering points were some of the best yet with Brandy & Coke freely available . I was tempted, especially after falling my moer off but somehow resisted. The girls in bikini tops were also a most welcome sight after 60odd kays . Had a very leasuirely ride till a mate lost his glasses and rode back 5kays to find them, then we pushed it a bit till I managed to lose my front wheel in spectacular fashion and tried to break from 50 - 0 by burying my right hand into the ground. It worked very well but I think my Karoo 2 Coast is over before it began. Judging by the size of my hand today, I'm pretty sure something's broken. Will go for xtrays tomorrow. Congrats to the organisers, that was some of the best singletrack I've ever ridden. Will definitely pen this one down in the diary for next year. Good turnout of Hubbers at the event as well. 3. I might just start farming on that white line You know what they say about white lines - slippery when wet, stay off.
  4. Agreed, bought myself a set last year and I've been really happy with them. They take a solid knock without going out of true.Buff2007-09-07 05:21:46
  5. They did it on mine as well but then credited it back (before I had a chance to complain about it).
  6. Grill me why don't you . I didn't use it coz it looked k@k . not sure where I ordered it from, it was either chainreaction or jensonusa, but that was in 2005.
  7. I ordered a seatpost clamp a while back but never used it. Coming to think of it, where the hell did I put it??? Ran Spin Stix for a year, not overly impressed with the winding mech but man, those suckers are damn light. Going to get myself another pair for the new crossmax's. Bit hey, if salsa works for you, buy them. Let me know if you order through chainreaction, I need some goodies. I want those skull & crossbone tube valve covers
  8. Get these rather, bought a Salaa product before and they aint so hot *pun intended* USE Spin Stix Buff2007-09-06 09:16:48
  9. Buy a helmet with bigger vents.
  10. Whoa boet, that looks like trouble on four legs. Keep that carbon Bianchi far away from those teeth
  11. That Furious Fred would work on Karoo 2 Coast as well, you'll just need to nurse it over the first mountain. The life span of a tire has a lot to do with your riding style. I've see a guy go through the Transalp Challenge on a rigid mtb riding a set of Conti Town & Countries (grooved slicks) .
  12. Crap, just after I hauled out the cash for a Racing Ralph on Fri. they bring out a new model
  13. Maar daai Klub is mos bankkrot na hulle shares geval het so daai ou in Wellington wat jy in die gutter gesit het .
  14. Colonel, what's she gotta do to earn one of these?... wash the Motard for a year
  15. So where's couch pics???
  16. Try Mark's Bicycle worshop in Bellville, last time I looked he had a pink saddle in stock. Actually, it was black with pink flowers on it. Quite a few pink bits & bobs available for woman to pimp with nowdays (that sounds bad ). When I saw the heading of your post I initially thought Colonel has been slipping up with his husbandly duties . That happens when one trains too much.
  17. 1990 - a pearl white Peugeot Rapport with 105 toe-strap pedals. I still have the original receipt for the bike and the pedals (R699) . Man, I loved that bike. My first race was the EP Herald and I rode it in 2:58. Been going backwards ever since . My first MTB was a racing green Diamond Back Topange - zero shocks want-so-ever. Did a 4 day tour through the Cederberg on it with panniers, no problem, plus a 5 day tour from George to CT. "what the eyes do not see the heart does not drool over" Buff2007-08-30 04:23:22
  18. "SantaCruz Blur or the Titus Racer X" Not sure if you can even compare these two bikes. In my opinion, the Titus runs rings around the Blur (figuratively). Ask Ti & Minty , ignore Marius *flame shield on*
  19. Ditto on Mark's Bicycle Workshop - R325 for full service. Icl's - Headset, BB & wheel bearings, new cables, true wheels, wash & lube.
  20. Compliments of the warthogs list: Okay, husky justice/divine leveler/what goes around comes around time again! The local bike patrol owner just popped into the shop and we got chatting and he said that the mountain patrol were on duty this morning on Table Mountain when they came across a mugger. Potentially the one that might have robbed this cyclist we just heard of. They gave chase and low and behold the guy fell off a cliff and he will no longer be bothering some of you up there any more. We wait to hear if this story hits the press or not!
  21. When someone whips out a 9mm and blows one of the f***ers heads off. Reminds me of cycling in the Eastern Cape in the early nineties. I used to ride with my 9mm strapped to my roadbike.
  22. Buff

    Cape Epic

Yippee.... sorry, but I need to share this with somebody... just been offered a ride in the Epic, very possibly fully sponsored. Goodbye Ironman 2008, Hello Epic 2008 . Time to start putting in some serious milage *puff puff*
  23. They're also a Conti product... good all rounders but do nothing spectacular.
  24. I also ride SpeedKings (tubed) and found the following: Great grip in the dry & semi-wet. Crap in mud & sad Wear very quickly. I've gone back to using Explorers as my training tires as I get more kilos out of them.
