  1. Ha, ha, ha I see the crowd is restless... BTW, I'm having a lekker time in PA - exploring new roads. Met JS on his Stig again - seems his business is doing great. Have a good 2022!!!!
  2. Same for you.... choose better words.... for the rest, they need to improve their reading skills, and not always see the worst...
  3. Seriously??? See my earlier post of today. I've cycled with Wimpie for many years in the WP in the 80's. So I have a bit of perspective on his cycling history and his achievements. I merely stated he's most likely not doing a 9-5 job like most of us. He's been doing monster rides and miles for decades.
  4. I've known Wimpie for ages. Hence my view that this is not WOW for him.
  5. Ditto, same with me. Took 2 months to get to my normal training program.
  6. Wimpie is close to retirement age or already working reduced hrs for many years, so these stats aren't that WOW. He's got lots of time.
  7. Fit and strong enough to ride Ventoux in June...
  8. As Dassie says, get medical support, I had my GP and a Specialist (Cycling buddy) help me set up the monitoring system.
  9. I also had mild symptoms You need to take your comeback very seriously. But each person is different, but be conservative. I took 3 weeks full rest after from day zero. Then started with low intensity 20-30 min rides. For me this was 145-150 bpm max, 135 avg. Every 2nd day. BUT if my RHR spiked vs historic trends, I took another 2-3 days rest. This carried on for another 3 weeks until my RHR fell into the trend pre Covid. The next 3 weeks I started ramping up volume to about 80% from normal, but kept the intensity relative low. Good luck
  10. Imagine you need to rely on the battery "too much" due to a prolonged headwind. If that beast dies, it will be like a anchor around your neck.
  11. Wet spot stuff!!!!!!
  12. Mmm... good point John. I'm in corporate where things just doesn't happen by chance. It is a controlled environment. People get selected/recruited for important stuff. Not that the most suitable always gets selected... Assumed on this level CSA/SASCOC had a similar approach...
  13. Now I wonder who was the person(s) that put his name in the hat to go to Tokyo. He certainly did not select himself. The tree needs a shake....
  14. Valid reason ???? CONGATS!! Mid season - my season still needs to start!!!!
  15. You riding?
  16. A great low key race and well organised. Also supporting a good cause!!! Normally held in Sept, which lots of wind. And with the date moving to Nov, I see the wind will be in full force again. The road surface South of SBR was very bad in sections back in 2019. Did it get a resurface, or is it even worse now. Someone???
  17. very nice write-up..... Maxxis are always better than Kenda!!! Great to see the comparison to the other "Epics"!! Glad that you enjoyed our beautiful country!!!!!!!
  18. Pictures please!!!
  19. Hey Arno Your reference to Cyclelab needs a re-think... Methinks your shop gives much better service ????
  20. Enjoy the Groenfontein/Kruisrivier back roads on your way to the majestic hill!!!
  21. Bought a Solar for my son, and the solar charging works very well. I think about 1-2% increase per hour in bright sunlight? He gets about 14 days between charges, but is doesn't use it that much for tracking. Still much better than my 735XT!! Good bargains on Takealot...
  22. My LBS introduced me to OKO - also about 10 years back. Great product, never had any issues.
  23. Stunning specials on Takealot a.t.m.
  24. Just bought a Garmin Instinct Solar for my son. Takealot bargain!! Far superior solar charging capability (better than F6 solar), but lacks the high end features of the F6 models. Still a really nice piece of kit for my cycling purposes. Same Pulse Ox sensor as the F6 - I get values between 93 and 98, I still have the F735XT - very poor battery life for longer events. I recon the Instinct will do pretty well in sunny conditions.
