  1. Or you can save up R2000 a month and then it will last you for 25 months
  2. Its interesting to read the comments on PM's and how you guys recon it changes your riding, I know they're good to have but didn't realise they played such a big role, I was always put off by the hefty price tag but it seems it could be worthwhile. How do you incorporate it into your training programs? or more specifically, how are you using the data to make your riding better? Maybe you could list a few examples of your training programs for say a week period?
  3. mmmh, wonder whats a good time to go, what time does it close?
  4. Firstly, is it necessary to act like a tjop when someones opinion differs from yours? You're such a bright spark and can see these great ideas before they happen then tell me why none of the pro teams are testing disk breaks on road bikes like they are with say electronic gears, which actually make sense for road racing? I've yet to see any wheel changes where standard caliper type brakes get in the way unless maybe when you're the one changing the wheel? Yes, I understand that disk brakes have benefits over calipers but these aren't necessarily beneficial on a road bike or worth the extra 2kg's this setup is going to add to the bike. Think before you shout your mouth off you twat!
  5. Why would you need disk brakes on a road bike? maybe to add some flat spots to your tyres? Its also not practical for competitive cycling, would only slow down wheel changes. and the extra weight!!! I think its stupid personally.
  6. eBay, USD30 for the jaws, will post to SA, search "Oakley Jawbone Jaws"
  7. Yeah, I think the closer they get to 94.7 the quicker they go (although last week Saturday was slow), tomorrow will probably be insane, are you riding with them? I'll look out for you if you are and say hoezit. I'll be riding in a white Bishops kit on a Bianchi.
  8. Yup, hooking up with them tomorrow, its the mini world champs, 2nd last ride I did with them the average was 43kph!
  9. this has been discussed at length on thehub..... But basically, shammy cream isnt really used for what it was originally supposed to be used for which was to soften the chamois that was used in cycling shorts to pad the shorts, these days manufacturers use synthetic materials which apart from being better dont need to be treated or softened. So in a nutshell, shammy cream is now really used to prevent chafing I dont think that a R200 tub of Assos shammy cream will work any better than a R40 tub to be honest and personally wouldnt pay that price, if you want a branded product that doesnt break the bank I'd suggest Mark II Shammy cream, costs about R40 a tub and works well, if you're looking to go even cheaper than use Fissan paste (maybe mixed with a bit of aqueous cream)
  10. Gr00tbaas, nice initiative but there's always a faster rider, the four riders may be good / the best but that doesnt mean this will be the case by 2013, loads of talented riders across the county in this age group. I dont think icycling is challenging the fact that you have good riders, he's proposing potential riders for your team which well.... is what you asked for.
  11. Cool idea.
  12. I think this will do for both, I'm sensing a suggestion from your side?
  13. got it, woohoo, had the wrong magazine. Link here for anyone else interested. INGREDIENTS 2 tsp. peanut butter, smooth 1 medium ripe banana, frozen and peeled 1 tbsp. honey 1 tablespoon oatbran or oats ½ cup milk, low fat/fat free or soya milk ½ cup rooibos & honey yoghurt METHOD Add all the ingredients together. Liquidize or blend till smooth. Add crushed ice (optional). COOK’S TIP: Try a pinch of cinnamon or a drop of vanilla for extra variety. NUTRITION BYTE: Drink before or after a ride. The added rooibos contains plant nutrients called flavonoids which can help boost immunity.
  14. Any idea on the qty on the ingredients? thats really what I'm after.
  15. So I've scoured the net and cant find it...... A while back there was a recipe for a smoothie in the Ride magazine I think, somehow I managed to lose it. Anyone know how its made? It had the following ingredients (from what I remember) Yoghurt Milk Oats Honey Peanut butter Banana Thanks.
  16. I think if these kits were being manufactured under license, they'd be exact copies which they aren't so I think its fairly safe to assume they're fakes.
  17. if you look closely at these "replica" kits, they're actually not exactly the same as the real team kits or the genuine licensed replica's so I think you'd look like a twat riding in one of the fakes to be honest and anyone with a keen eye will probably notice that its a fake kit, if this doesnt bother you then buy a fake kit, I'd personally prefer to buy the original albeit more expensive, just seems like the right thing to do. At the end of the day its like buying fake DVD's from the side of the road IMO.
  18. Ja thanks man, had flu so was kaking a bit, Flemish Lion the Avatar and socks have something in common I see Sorry for the hijack Tarmac, just making some online buddies here
  19. That's me in front of you, I was in the red and white kit, on the Bianchi, nice rolling yesterday
  20. I personally think Assos are over rated and are very expensive for what you get, Castelli make decent kit, if it were my money, I'd go for the Castelli.
  21. Dont get me wrong, I'm not saying it was easy, what I meant was the heat got to me more than the terrain but you're right it was still flippin hard.
  22. The 126km route was tough but I've ridden harder courses, what absolutely killed me was the heat, my Garmin was registering 40 degrees on that last 10km climb, it was murder. I got a total of 1767 ascent. Feels like I've run the comrades this morning
  23. Jeepers, where do you find time to do anything else in the day with all that eating?
  24. Yeah, I thought they might do that, I'll be in 35-39 group then.
  25. Yeah, I guestimated the climbing to be around 1000m by looking at the profile but it could be 1200m, definitely not 3428m and certainly not 59km, I think what they mean with the 59km is that 59km of the race is uphill not that you ascend 59km otherwise, yes they'd need to hand out space suites.
