  1. Ja, I reckon that the 4 reasons that people dont dope: 1. danger to health 2. its cheating 3. its too expensive 4. fear of being caught. BUT 1. probably less dangerous than high speed descents, training in the morning in the dark, training alone, riding in the rain 2. so is starting in an earlier group, getting a friend to ride with your chip, crossing the white line, using vehicles for a lift during races, drafting vehicles during vehicles. 3. Look at what people spend on supplements, bikes etc 4. Euro pros get away with it (it seems to me) SA pros more so (it seems to me) and I dont know of an 'open seeded' rider having ever been tested. I'm sure there are hundreds of non-licensed riders doping.
  2. The issue had been raised before by Landis? defence team but this is the first time that Ch?tenay-Malabry director Jacques de Ceaurriz had commented on it. "It's an error as regards numbering, a typing error which has no significance whatsoever on the findings in the samples," de Ceaurriz told AFP. "These little mistakes happen. They are corrected, and noted." He said that WADA was aware of the incident. not another 'generally corrupt relationship' problem
  3. why dont they use the CSA seeding ladder??
  4. Spidey, I thought the elites cared about position and not time... so lets have your position prediction! BTW isn't 2:10 about last years winning time??
  5. By law they dont have to honour their advertised price. In fact if their is any dispute about their price they can simply refuse to sell it to you at all. Not a good idea for anyone in a small market like cycling though.
  6. Gumpole - the team issue is basically unavailable unless you got an allocation in the initial order. Secondly the carbon frame is completely different to the alu frame in terms of geometry - I bought my wife the RC6000 Carbon yesterday and compared it to the RC6000 that she has. They are worlds apart. Now, I'm not a particular Raleigh fan but I got to say that the carbon bikes are really nice - the geometry is really aggressive. I thought that the new geometry was meant to be more 'relaxed' (raleigh 20 page ad in bicycling) anyway I'm not criticizing the geometry or the carbon, simply saying that the bike is overpriced. I think that you would have to get a decent wheelset firstly - which would maybe cost you 3 to 6 grand so you end up with a nice bike that costs the same as the RC team. Assuming the frame is good and I was in the market for a R20k bike I would definitely buy the RC team, even if it means a 3 or 6 month wait OR go for a carbon Fuji, Merida, GT, Silverback which will cost less with the same spec.
  7. ugggh terrible value, paying an extra 3 or 5 grand for the team issue is a good deal - which doesn't even cover the upgrade from ultegra to dura ace, never mind the zipp wheels. In essence you are buying last years alu/carbon frame raleigh 7000 (available at 10-11k) and then paying an extra 10 grand to swop out the frame for carbon- insane,
  8. I think Jason and Michelle have worked it out .. Jason apparently you are too bright to be an elite cyclist or race official. I think if you take Jasons diagram but make the angle of the cones a lot 'flatter' you have a safe race ending. p.s. sometimes the CDEF groups finish in big bondels too so that could have been my ass (at 40km/h instead of 60!)
  9. No Trek (smart), no Specialized (?)
  10. Hey last years 94,7 was over 44km/h and that was 'joburgs toughest race' ' tougher than argus' bla bla.
  11. Hope you recover before the 94,7 Jedi (and all the other cyclists that were involved in crashes). And the 94.7 is a lot safer due to the hills meaning slipstreaming is less critical - just watch out for the first 6kms on the highway. I must admit I am puzzled why people who take the 94.7 seriously do this race. If you are thinking of nailing yourself to get a last minute reseeding you will be too tired the next week to be at your best. If you are going to take it easy why not just do a club ride? If you are trying to avoid accidents the fast flat races are what you should avoiding.
  12. tyres dont match; CC chip is upside down; grease on frame; rear reflector is skew; bottle holders are the wrong colour; sunpeak/roadbike; general colour co-ordination (I shouldn't talk). Like the bicycle - what is it?
  13. pedal /foot position
  14. Illovocycles.co.za. I dont generally use them but when the cover thingy (Mariusm) of my FSA crankset came off (and was lost) I struggled to find someone who stocked FSA that could help. I went to Illovo. They found one for me and installed it/ checked out crank while I waited. Cost was nil, zip, gratis. So they get a from me.

    Frames?

Not bad, but for another 6.4k you could have gotten shimano wheels (560), ultegra, fsa cranks, SI saddle, ritchey wcs bits . but I think it always works out a bit more when you buy a frame on its own - at least you can build it up EXACTLY as you want it. I'm very happy with my Fuji, stiff, comfortable, very light....AND no cracks AND cheap (unlike cervelo, giant, trek - )

    94.7

the final drag beyond the old entrance from kyalami to Maxwell drive (end of waterfall estate) is 2.7km and 35m ascent. depending where the exactly finish actually ends there will probably be only half that. ALso about 40 m descent
  17. are you doing a second lap on a tandem??? or are you hoping to wheelsuck behind one - sorry my Afrikaans arent so mooi
  18. Spidey, after all the raving about SRAM road components on the Hub, I think that is the first comment from someone who has actually used them!
  19. I think their is a fair balance between pictures of guys (TCS , and that swimmer ) vs girls (cyclists and tennis players )
  20. Nice looking bike. I have just got mine back from its service and it looks exactly the same but it seems to go much smoother and faster, great feeling to have a bike that is reallyy working well.
  21. The pictures are different sizes and shapes, and their picture has only one person in it... I dont see the similarity.
