  2. WOW you weren't joking lol
  3. No its fine I think 8:30 is a good time, I also dont like the cold. I'll be there with a white Corsa Bakkie (high canopy), and have a black Merida hardtail with blue housings. Maybe we can meet by the entrance to the restaurant round 8:20? to leave as a Hub group
  4. 8:30 sounds good to me, with it now being winter, Unless other guys want to leave a little bit earlier? 7 for 7:30 shouldnt be a issue either if people want to leave earlier?
  5. I don't know sometime in the morning, what time will suite you? I have the day off so can be there anytime
  6. Hi guys wanting to find out if there are any hubbers going to ride van gaalens tomorrow, most of my mates are sick lame and lazy at the moment. So if anyone is maybe keen to do between 30 and 50km tomorrow, or if I could maybe tag along with a group that is going out? let me know please, and hopefully the weather holds out
  7. I found that a gedore socket worked on my old raleigh cheapie that also needed a bolt tightened inside the BB part of the crank. maybe take the bike or frame with you to a hardware store and ask if you could check if one of the sockets would work before you buy it. I'm sure one of the sales staff would be able to help
  8. guys guys, everyone is forget about one old school solution, the good old faithful Dynamo light no battries and if you want the light brighter go faster
  9. well one thing i can say for sure is you wont be able to fix it with some duct tape and Q20. and would hate to know the result of sending it in for a service with mechanics that dont have electrical engineering degrees lol
  10. Dont know if this has been posted before but thought it was a really cool concept.
  11. have you been using CO2 canisters to seat the tires? that can cause coagulation of the liquid latex, long story short it makes the sealant more acid and the latex uses ammonia to stay liquid. but I generally found that stans made nice little rubber balls and joes makes a nice evenly thick layer of rubber all around the inside of the tire, so i guess its a case of choosing your poison lol
  12. you could try get one of these? http://bbbcycling.com/bike-parts/headset-parts/BHP-21/ http://bbbcycling.com/bike-parts/headset-parts/BHP-20/ not sure which one you'd need, i'm sure google can answer that

    Freedom Challenge

well i wouldn't mind being one of those nutters one day when i'm big and have some money lol I think it would be a real life experience and a real testing challenge to ones self. and apparently one can also do Cairo to the Cape
  15. please do share, out of interest

  17. I see the results are out for those interested http://www.spectrumsport.co.za/ViewResults/2012MountainBiking.aspx
  18. i see they made that section a little easier this year, I dont remember the sand bags last year making the steps a little less hectic (maybe I just dont remember them) although i'm sure they must have been shredded after the 70km field and most of the 40km guys had gone through
  19. the race was good today, I did the 70 or 65 odd that my computer read at the end, was a bit bumed though, I never got a goodie bag what made it worse was I really needed the bottle, forgot my 2 in the fridge at home I would have thought they know how many entrants there are (online entries only?) so would have packed enough goodie bags. other then that the race was really good, marshal's were top notch and people manning the water point were super friendly so big up to you guys the route was also allot better then last years not half the congestion, so well done Tim to a really good route, hopefully now with a 2:50 something I can move up a batch or two from E batch and possibly knock a few more minutes off that time. How ever the route did feel faster this year, maybe someone who did it last year can also comment?
  20. good on you guys at least I now know if I do forget something at home I can quickly pop in and get it before the race
