  1. I had the same issue a couple of months ago, one of the hubbers was selling a awesome pair of Sidi's and I for one would not buy used shoes - But they were like new and looked like they came straight out of the box.
  2. I am 1.72m weighing at 69-70kg's. Was around 66kg's before a month's holiday
  3. numbers are up to 31 now.... Seems most people on the forum are in IT and the only ones with some form of Internet access at home or work
  4. Sounds like a expensive bag of Biltong
  5. Best place to ride is the Kromdraai area - I see the two Rhino's are becoming a norm on green grass... I haven't seen the troop of baboons for a while though
  6. Tell him to use a Cisco Firewall, you will be out of there much sooner
  7. Anyone know of LBS in Johannesburg that could be straighting Bontrager race x lite wheel set? That is to say that it can be fixed.

    Entry fees

I think the entry fees for a race is peanuts if land up having an accident at the race and you did not have insurance and can't claim for the dumb ass that cut you off. If you are not happy with entry fees, don't enter. If you don't enter, numbers decline, race organizers making to much money revise next years costs or those that are not breaking even cancel next years race.
  9. Must be cheaper to make less gold and more silver ones
  10. I am not sure about dropping the energy drink but I have noticed that if I use gels in a race that I need to keep "refueling" with gels during the race as I feel dead if I don't. If I just use one energy drink and one bottle of water, much better.
  11. If you did the Nola race, you would not even have notice the wind at the Lost City race. I could still manage about 30km/h in yesterdays wind. At the Nola I was standing and pedaling and could get up to about 18km/h. Overall I was glad to one have witnessed one accident with the groups being so big.
  12. People can know who I am.... bad publicity has always been better then no publicity Ask Paris and Nicole....
  13. I had a similar experience with a Bontrager wheel, the hub on Race X lite broke, took it to the Trek folks and replaced it with a brand new one. Big thumbs up to the guys at Just Fun Cycles. I would not judge Trek/Bontragers local service based on the service you might get from the dealers... Buy the Bontragers from 101% AKA - at 12k, its for free. Would have considered them for my bike if it didn't break on me.
  14. Thanks Cristie, as this 6.9 doesn't make as a nice ornament of my wall I have also been told about someone cape town that has actually made some carbon frames and has patents on carbon cranks and various other carbon components.
  15. Well I always thought I must get a carbon bike and that they are the best thing since slice bread - I eventually got awesome deal on a Trek 6.9 ssl. I had it for 6 weeks, went down in a race 2 weeks ago and someone behind me must have gone over the bike and now I have a top of the range frame that only looks nice as a wall mount and worth nothing. So if you going to insure it, go for anyone cause you can claim for the damage. Otherwise stick whats is the strongest. So if anyone knows anyone that can do magic on carbon frame let me know.
  16. Lagos is such a lovely city... I miss every moment of my short visit - NOT Are you guys staying Victoria Island?
  17. You could join MTN Club 100 - Club fees is R650 if I am not mistaken. Their club kit only costs around R600-R700 and they have tents at 94.7 and Argus where any club member is welcome to have some drinks and food after the race. MTN sponsored a free kit to everyone in the club doing the Argus this year so we holding thumbs for the feature generosity Their club rides start from Sunning Hill and working on some more routes - to be confirmed.
  18. thanks Swissvan
  19. They have no pro rata concept for the licenses. They have a flat fee per annum no matter when you join in that year. The finner fin print they don't tell you if you don't ask.
  20. I recently changed over to another bike and did a long ride with it today and got lower back pains. From searching around on the web, the first point raised is an incorrect stem length and saddle position. So I am trying to figure out what the exact length of the stem that is on my new wheels. If I can picture it correctly I can actually see the hubs without having to lean over the bars.... The options to replace it if needed: 70mm, 75mm, 80mm, 90mm, 100mm, 105mm, 110mm, 120mm, 130mm, 140mm. Picture below.
  21. Can anyone tell me who you calculate the length of a stem?? Is it from the center of the stem to where the "front" plate screws on or end to end? Thanks
  22. The only LBS shop that I trust for discounts given without even asking is Westdean cycles. I go there once every 3 months and they always give you discount off the marked price - and the marked price is generally normal - no concept of marking it up and giving you a discount.
  23. I don't think that you can compare anyone prices to Cajees - they have a record mark up that beats Zim's inflation rate...

I have always ridden Shimano and recently got a bike with SRAM force on it and it is great.
