  1. Just an obsefvation - how many secondhand Scotts do you see on the hub as opposed to Giants
  2. No duty, only VAT on this side. If you are not in a hurry CRC by royal & SA postage 10-14 days if no delays or strikes. Otherwise go for reputuable corrier like DHL
  3. As can I, with the current exchange rate mtb is becoming ridiculously expensive
  4. They have since new routes - http://www.klapperkop.org.za/
  5. I don't even want to start. At the start we turned left intending to ride up the to daggapad (on the alternative route - not the cement path), miems; railway line, oom Piet and then on to the river. I would have been totally lost had I not done some of the VG routes in the past. Some of my mates, visiting VG for the first time, admitted that they would not have been able to navigate the route because of the lack of clear markings. My experience - I Saw signs lying on the ground or showing the wrong direction or even contradictory directions. The river, which in the past has always been one of the highlights coming back to VG, IS BLOCKED OFF!!!! On leaving I noted that there was an obvious, as opposed to the past, lack of cars with bicycle racks. There VG will not be seeing me soon obviously others feel the same way.
  6. Did VG today after a long absence. Dismayed at lack of signage and trials in general. What is going on?
  7. Nie so seer die maak van nuwe pype nie, maar eerder die installasie in die "crown" van die vurk
  8. Sorry, may also be able to do it if you just change spider on the crank - depending on the type of crank
  9. Would need a new crank arm, simply dropping a ring would not do anything about chainline
  10. can convert any bike to 1/2/3 ring crank. swapping the cranks out is more problematic depending on the BB the various bikes take. There are adapters on the market for GXP to press fit - I however do not know the longevity thereof
  11. 100kg, i run between 1.4(frt) - 1.6(rear) on tubeless tyres
  12. If the rear hub gets cacked up in mud again, remove cassette and free wheel body and give them a good clean before riding again. Mere rinsing it off is not good enough, the grime/mud tends to get past and into the mechanism
  13. Like you say, long shot. Do they even make them in XXXL?
  14. Freewheel hub body either dirty or it packed up in which case will mean a replacement
  15. reverb is the better more reliable option
  16. Should work but bear in mind it is still in essense a 3 ring crank meaing that there is still some cross shifting - second and large ring further away from bottom bracket than would have been the case if you went for a proper dual chainring
  17. I run 2 chains alternating them every week to allow for cleaning. Have been doing this for last 13 months and must have logged over 3000 km this way. Plain simple Sram1050 bottom of the range chains, found them to be more durable and cost effective, albeit a couple of grams heavier
  18. T Axle provides for stiffer wheelset, but truth be told it is not the be all end all of wheelsets and is only worthwhile doing if you have no other choice but to upgrade to new wheelset i.e. New frame/ fork that requires TA
  19. Was in similar position, instead opted to have a wheelset built up locally, worked out cheaper for me.
  20. One some of the mavic hubsets you get adaptors, you might be lucky seeing that yours is a year old. Get your LBS to help you otherwise get hold of Dragon Sports, the local agents for Mavic
  21. If you cant recess the cup any deeper, have you tried sourcing a thinner/smaller top bearing?
  22. You hit the nail on the head. Cheaper to run XO1 although XX1 has bigger bling value, but hey anyone ridding whatever 1x10/11 automatically moves up in the pack no matter what they ride
  23. I would recomend an extra plain (cheap) rear rim fitted with a slick to replace your existing wheel when on the trainer. Using a trainer on knobblies will run your tyre down in no time. would not even borther fitting a rotor for the brakes, should not be more than R700 - 1000, worthwhile considering price of new tyre
  24. If I am not mistaken the wheels on the Anthem are mounted on DT Swiss hubs which has sealed bearings. If they do not feel rough and no lateral play they should be fine. i would only start worrying about them if you ride dusty/muddy conditions.
  25. first off - can only run a 8/9/10 spd chain with a 8/9/10 spd drive train, they are not cross compatable. they may not necessarily fit as is as the chainstay length on the various bikes may differ, may have to add or remove some links.
