  1. I am with Routjie on this one. Rode both, weight wise basically the same. Decided on the Santa, never regretted my choice
  2. count me in for 2 - i take it SA sizing not european/eastern measurments
  3. There are beter ways to lube your drivetrain :-) Seriously though, like DJR suggested, soak it in waterovernight, the sooner the better and hopefully it will soften a bit. Should be able to scrape it off the bottom bracket, chail going to be dicey though
  4. Not having heard the noise and with you having eliminated the brakes i would hazard a gues to say it is either the wheelbearings or the freewheelbody.
  5. Cant go wrong with the Blue Book. As a practical back up try www.bicycletutor.com for step by step video guides
  6. No doubt he is also beating you in the Movember stakes :-)
  7. You can have old candy's serviced to replace mechanism, bearing set approx R220 and spindles extra R120 if they are bent out of shape
  8. Prefer candy's myself as it has a platform supporting the bridge of the foot. Helps on longer rides and hills when you get unclipped.
  9. Same here, originally started with baggies wich is all good and well and has its benefits....extra pockets, walk around without bulging parts but found that they tend to chafe on longer rides notwithstanding chamy cream. bibs on the other hand are light, cover your lower back against sunburn and once you get used to them are more comfortable. end of the day comes down to choice once you have experimented with both
  10. Tyler Hamilton plays the victim to a T. Dont get me wrong, i do not condone or support doping. But even if it is all true, it still does not detract that LA remains one of the best.
  11. yes you can, bearing in mind that you may need to shorten it otherwise your shifters would be to far in on the handlebars.
  12. and dont forget the saddlebag
  13. Not so much infected as contaminated with oil based solvents like chain cleaner spray etc which somehow stay on rotors. Need to clean them with surgical alcohol and do pads as well then bake pads in oven at high heat, dont burn as this can cause further contamination of pads. Also chech thickness of rotors, most rotors need to be replaced if the thichness is less than 1,75mm.
  14. You are mistaken, those are 26' which had been at the bottom on the previous stage. Lol
  15. Had similar experience towards end of last year, cause of my mishap - wheelie that went wrong. Tried physio as 90% of disc prolapses starts correcting themselves with time witin 6-8 weeks. Mine was one of 10% that got worse. Had op where neuro removed part of disc protusion. Did my exercises and was off bike for 10 weeks, caused me to miss out on this year's Sani2C. Back on bike but on somedays I feel that my back aint what it was before my mishap. Just need to manage it and keep on working on your exercises to strengthen back and stomach mussles. Good luck
  16. Looks dicey, scared that my bike will fall off, can i book a spot at the bottom.
  17. Yes, you could but why would you want to.
  18. No, chainringbolt holes dont match. Largest twin blade is a 42. Play around with smaller cassette
  19. Nice. Worhwhile investing in having it covered in plastic film before you start your build. Bit pricey, I had mine done and 3 years later dont regret it, protects the frame, they normally specialize in doing the higher end sportcar market. Enjoy
  20. Mate of mine did Sabie challenge on full lockout, he thought that his fork had given up on him, felt like real tool when his LBS told him nothing wrong with fork ~ lol
  21. Sorry mate misunderstood your question - close to RosemRy Hill in Pta East is a railway line, can travel along railway line all the way to Kempton, fairly safe and flat
  22. Look to side of tool, should be a screw which when turned loosens chainbreaker from tool and allows you to use allen key to turn chainbreaker screw
  23. Put me down for one of those blue jobbies above ;-)
  24. Bruce Reynecke Cycles in Pta. Stockist of all three models of Tallboy's (29 er) as well as other 26' models.
