  1. Like donuts and cops, shims and creaking go great together. You can seperate them but they magically always seem to reunite. Shims are a workaround, not the goal.
  2. Selle italia saddles are a great choice, I currently riding the same saddle on my road and mtb - selle italia slr kit carbonio flow. Selle italia have recently redone their range so choosing the right saddle is a little more difficult. Also the "leather" has been enhanced, sadly the white has less longevity than before.
  3. My sram force axs doesn't seem to have any of the issues referred to ????
  4. The sram brakes are honestly one of the easiest to bleed. The two syringe approach is fast and doesn't mess. Moving from shimano (oil), using Hayes brakes (dot4) in years gone I was not looking forward to playing with brake fluid on sram. But it realy was simple. If you lost fluid then I would bleed, but I am like that. Some will probably say ride and go by feel.
  5. My assos bibs last about 4 years. 20 plus hours a week incl weekend racing. Machine washed in a cold wash at low spin. I pop mine in a pillow case and knot it tight. Hang in the shade to dry. Thin fabric in the back at 4 years, pad is still 120%.
  6. Yip, I have 3 pairs of assos bibs reserved for indoor use. I raced them, trained hard and now see through. They were great and had a hard life.Bought a few new pairs, retirement for the old set. Tyres wear, groupsets wear. That's life. 10 washes indicates a washing day problem, or you made a concious decision to wash your bibs once a year...
  7. Use them on the stationery training trainer at home. Get a new pair to wear in public. Retirement is a fact of life.
  8. Your gear ratio may be a challenge. Who will be riding the bike? Age / skills have a role to play when setting up a ratio for a young cyclist.
  9. I really like the ride of the ikon. Just stay away from the aspen. I found the aspen terrible when it so much as smelt moisture.
  10. Me 2, large tub of belray lasts years.I use a few grease options. This one is great for spd and volume applications.
  11. I stopped worring about crank length and focused on actually riding, now I am 3km faster per hour and focus on power. Your wife won't notice 2.5mm, neither will you unless you are built like a cartoon character and in the WAY tall or WAY short hurd. Now get out and ride!
  12. My front trainer tyre is basically new, but had a 4 inch nail through the centre and out the sidewall. So with a new tube it was retired to my trainer mtb.
  13. My trainer mtb has no brakes and no front derailleur. An assembly of old xt 26er parts. Also has my old road pedals. The forks are stuffed and permanently locked out. The bike runs smooth, ideal for a trainer. You don't need much for a trainer, a good fit and functional groupset.
  14. I had a set of Marzocchi's in the years gone by. The problem you will face is that the agency has changed hands more than once since 2009 meaning older spare parts will be a major challenge. You may get lucky, I found a set in Zululand Cycles a number of years ago but other than a knowledgeable store with old stock you will be in a little trouble. Enduro appear to have a single kit for 32mm forks "MARZOCCHI 32 SEAL KIT" https://www.enduroforkseals.com/products/front-suspension/enduro-classic-fork-seals/FSKMZ32C.html I would go third party like enduro, hit Google and order online. Then wait and hope!
  15. Sorry, found it on the internet. It must be wrong.
  16. Can you please help me understand the below advice from bianchi?Bold letters little over half way down pages 1. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.bianchi.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Fork_Installation_instruction_Eng.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjmm-TCx7TvAhXlheYKHVC-BEsQFjABegQICBAC&usg=AOvVaw0CfZC7wWLq-DG2CY9Z09_J
  17. First youtube search - Watch "Ask a Mechanic: Carbon Friction Paste Application" on YouTube
  18. Carbon paste on the stearer tube is generally a no go. The paste has a chance of getting into the headset bearings and causing endless problems. Carbon paste is great for junctions like the stem face and seat tube, not bearing interfaces. Also in a fall you want your bars to slip or rotate on the stearer, Carbon paste on the stearer leads to limited movement therefore a higher chance of your fork failing or snapping at the tube top.
  19. You probably mean height. I can ride my sons tricycle, not fun for any length of time but possible. A tcr comes in a 51 (extra small) and 53 (small). A 51 is for riders 157 to 169 in height. A 53 is for riders 165 to 175 in height. But this may change based on the year and exact model of the frame
  20. My xtr 985 (2014 ish) outperform my 2020 sram level ultimate setup any day of the week. The ultimate groupset imo is Shimano brakes and sram asx gears. Sram are great but lack the knock-out performance of xtr.
  21. Recently purchased a giant tcr, kept my bmc thinking I would use the bike but after 3 months I have used it once. So it may be time to sell. I am no longer in sunny South Africa but thought I would ask what you all feel is a fair price in ZAR. If I don't sell then I will pop the bike on my stationary trainer and so it will end. The bike is full dura ace 9000, with dura ace c24 wheels. Gearing is a 53/39 matched with an 11/25 cassette. Easton carbon ec 90 - fork, bars and seat post. Selle Italia kit carbonio saddle. Bike weight is 7.1kgs all in. I will try to upload a picture, let's test my phone skills..!
  22. It would be but taking my front wheel of amounts to hours of disc brake rub. 3rd world problems.
  23. Top tube on my giant is the only option with a isp. Just make sure it's no too tight and no major force through the frame
  24. I have 11cm between the seatpost clamp and the dropper point in my seatpost. So I cut the workstand clamps to 10cm. Fitted silicone tape and done. I did this as I also have 3 kids with low seat heights so needed a smaller clamp regardless.I run the RSHOX axs dropper, at that price i was not going to risk my dropper in jaws...
  25. You will find 2 schools of thought, youtube offers both that you can clamp and that you should not. Personal decision for us mortals. I bought new jaws for my work stand then cut the old set shorter and now clamp below the shaft. I prefer to have zero risk of damage.
