  1. Going to try this next. Thanks
  2. I like energy balls. https://www.gimmesomeoven.com/no-bake-energy-bites/ We also buy raisins, nuts, seeds etc in bulk and make our own trail mix. Riding Singlespeed in winter saves a lot of money. And it's a lot of fun. I buy most of my riding shirts in the running department at Mr Price Sport. Their jackets are also nice.
  3. RS Reverb has been around since 2010. Crank Brothers Joplin since before that. 2008 iirc. Or did you swap your gholf clubs for a specialized 5years ago and think that is Genesis? For everything.
  4. Leatt again? https://leatt.com/za/shop/mtb/protection/helmets/helmet-mtb-4-0-v21-sku-1021000560-W?selected-color=5553
  5. Jeez. Sorry to hear. Hope you are unscathed. Please don't hesitate to go for counseling, this might affect you in the long run. Where in stellies did this happen?
  6. To affirm your wisdom: With drills, and battery tech, if you want to buy only once, don't buy the cheapest. And 12v is fine only for a lazy man's screwdriver. For work, 18v is the minimum, 20v is what the big dog machines use. Oh, and Ryobi is cheap for a reason, it's in the build quality. Been there, still have one t-shirt left. Rest have been binned.
  7. Did Bob and Agnes say yes?
  8. Let us know what it is please. If in any way we can help by being customers, let us know. I know I’m not the only one who will support you where we can.
  9. Ja, jot all towbar's are created equal. Mine has a vertical weight limit of 250kg, whereas some are as low as 60kg. Ladder frame chassis have sturdier towbars, but monocoque bodies usually don't have as sturdy mounting points. OP, Just check your towbar before loading four bikes.
  10. MTBs or road bikes? Thule racks are a hassle to put MTBs next to each other, boost hubs and wider forks have made it a nightmare. Holdfast racks has enough space between bikes to fit comfortably, but the tilt mechanism isn't as polished as Thule. My money would still go to a Holdfast . I have two of their racks on my my trailer. https://www.holdfast.co.za/products/platform-sport
  11. Toyota tax is a bit silly right now. MUX look is definitely dated: One man's ugly is another man's wife though. I mean, people buy Tritons and Pajero Sports. The early 3.2s lost engines and gearboxes due to overheating after water pipes chafed and developed leaks. And the cracked pistons due to faulty injectors. But the factory warranty covers those calamities.
  12. I wouldn't do that. But if you accidentally slip and buy a Ford, just get a Ford Factory extended warranty (not a third party aftermarket warranty.) At least they don't have any issues fixing their poor workmanship under warranty Can't you get a Isuzu MUX for the same money? I went to fetch mine today. The part that needs replacement is the Gateway Control Module. When the part arrives I'll pop in to have it replaced. The problem with owning a Ford is that it's a really lekker vehicle to drive, and it's a lekker office for me. When every thing goes right that is.....
  13. I have an irrational liking of the XJ Jeeps. I also like a 2.8Landy. Both would be a lot of fun, but probably be terrible decisions. Said the guy who’s Ranger has spent 8 weeks at the inept dealer this year. And they still don’t know what’s wrong. FML.
  14. Plus 1 for Hanger bike co. With Williams in Second place. My history in Somerset West almost dates back as long As Patch. I bought my first Bicycle from Frenchy Cycles when thy still were in the courtyard of that dodgy little centre That was 1994. Used it to ride to school. Frenchys then moved to Van Der Stel. I’ve bought stuff from Village Cycles as well when they still existed, before they shipped out to stellies. I worked in Maverick Cycles and Helderberg Cycles as a school laaitie (at Helderberg I learned how to negotiate when I had to strong arm the owner to give me a decent wage.) I worked for Malan and his brother briefly again when Mavericks (aka Cycle Addiction ) became Velo Life. Ive also played rugby with the Neethling brothers (fun fact: Andrew played 1st XV rugby, and he had Boland colours in hockey) I used to race against Henning from Pedalworx when he was still a Merida rep. Ive had my bike rebuilt a couple of times by Daryn at Williams Bike every time I cracked it or had the suspension serviced. Brilliant mechanic. Now my bike goes to the Hanger. In Somerset West I trust only Daryn (Williams,) Piet (Hanger) and Jonty (Hanger.)
  15. Pffft, a truck is something that can carry it's own weight. A double cab looks like a dog taking a dump when you load more than 700kg on the back.
  16. I wouldn't. But I would suggest phoning around in the platteland. I bought my Ranger In Bredasdorp, and my lowest Hilux quote was in Riversdal. Boland Isuzu in Paarl is also on the ball, that is where mine goes for servicing. I made a lekker last drive with the old bakkie, had breakfast in Bredasdorp with the family, and drove back the same day.
  17. I really like the Sensor. If it was available when I was in the market I would have been hard pressed to not buy it. Where do you live? The Sensor will be more than capable on Western Cape enduros. (My frame of reference.) The only thing that I'd upgrade ASAP is the fork. The RS 35 will be capable, but something like a Pike or the Revelation Charger, the Marzochi Z2 and fox 34 will be better and a noticeable upgrade. Everything else you can sort out as it breaks. Because things will be breaking if you are riding hard.
  18. I really like the Sensor. If it was available when I was in the market I would have been hard pressed to not buy it.
  19. I bought ours on FB marketplace. Local supplier had zero stock.
  20. The Isuzu auto is an Aisin unit. It is good for cruising, but if you are in a hurry it might frustrate you. It's a solid gearbox though, and very reliable. We usually replaced our manual Isuzus' clutches at around 200k kms. But they towed heavy trailers and broken down trucks way too often. Wouldn't happen with normal driving.
  21. If yiu want it to be nice inside but don't mind taking a bath on the resale, get the GWM. It's a dark horse, might even be nice. If you want a lekker drive, and won't own it past the warranty expires, get the Ford. If you want to drive it for many years, want it to be reliable and don't mind dated looks, get the Isuzu. The gwm will probably be worth very little in 5 years. It might even age well. The Ford might not break. It might even not leave you stranded somewhere. But it is a very lekker bakkie. I can't say anything bad about the Isuzu, but bear in mind that the new dmax will launch next year. The new dmax and the new Mazda bt50 is the same. With Mazda just changing the styling and interior on theirs. Their new bakkie will be in SA soon. With their 7 year unlimited kms warranty this would be a very strong candidate, if it is in budget. Now for my experience. I grew up with Isuzu. I still regret trading in a 250dtec club cab we had. But my last three bakkies have all been 2.2 Rangers. Mainly because they tow very well, they are comfortable on long distance drives, they have a relatively decent interior in XLS spec, they have a great ZF 6SPD auto, and they have Trailer Sway Control. (That saved me from needing new underpants again this afternoon.) The first Ranger needed a new oil pump and turbo at 123k km. The second one needed two new common rails before 75k km and started using too much oil by 120k. The current Ranger needed a new engine at 26k km after a faulty injector lead to a cracked piston. Now it has electrical gremlins. Switches that has stopped working. It has spent 8weeks at the dealership this year. Half of it is because of an unreliable product, other half is because the dealer in Somerset West is useless. As an aside, one of the demos I had while they replaced the engine was a 2.2XL DC. The new radio is nice, albeit rather slow. Other than that it does everything well. My next bakkie will without a doubt be an Isuzu again.
  22. It's about time that Giant updated the Anthem. I'm not surprised that Giant went the single-pivot-flexy-triangle route. It's so hot right now. And a smart way to lower weight. Giant seems to really like Live Valve. And let me remind you that the last world marathon champs was won on this single bottle bike.
  23. Potholes, social status and the need to look adventurous.
  24. Go ask your local bike shop. Chances are they have a cracked frame that was never picked up in storage taking up space.
  25. I love fixes like this. Gooi another jar in for backup on your next takealot order and you'll be sorted for that next oops as well.
