  1. This was on Saturday. @CJvan going up Helderberg. I'll be in Grootvadersbosch this weekend, hopefully I'll get a chance to run some indigenous forest trails in between all the braaiing and rain.
  2. I had a pair of Inov8s in between shoes. Meant for park runs and the like. I think it was called the park claw? It was nice and soft and I loved them, but they wore out faster than expected.
  3. I will also get up to naughty things with that bike. Yes it's been an expensive year.
  4. Weather is perfect for singlespeed riding. So I gave this mongrel a new BB and fresh sealant. That's the year's maintenance sorted.
  5. Die dominee se dogters vry die lekkerste.
  6. I have a feeling that like myself, yiu also have a crate full of specialized oils and lubes and greases for home servicing of everything. That reminds me, I need to get some sram butter again.
  7. What people forget when repairing/servicing/fitting things themselves is that consumables used need to be on spec for it to be done correctly. It's akin to doing an oil-change on your vehicle at home, but then using the wrong oil for that engine. And while it will be a lifetime supply, and useful for someone who will service it himself regularly, the guy who needed it for a one-time use would probably have been cheaper off to have his lbs fit the freebody, or buy a scoop or two of grease from them.
  8. I remember a while back Louis Knipe posted a photo of a giant ebike that had a motor issue that he sorted out. A rep from Dragons then replied saying that he must pasop and that the warranty is now void. Then the owner of the bike replied to the rep telling him to shove their warranty as the bike has been to them multiple times and they couldn't fix it. Fortunately you have Knipe Racing in your neck of the woods as well.
  9. I have a somewhat nasty opinion of the gholf players riding ebikes. The bikes are cool though. But I've only met two of those bad apples so far. Most of the ebikers are like us, they just want to ride and have fun.
  10. All that work for a blade grinder? I'm disappointed.
  11. That 5 pot gives me the fizzy root feeling.
  12. My Fujitrabuco Lyte also chafes on my Achilles. The heel box is pretty rigid, it chafes me just below the padding. It's better since I've added a heel lock to the lacing, but I can't run in it with thin socks.
  13. I'll take the Garden Route (Suid Kaap ook) gravel roads above Overberg, Karoo and Swartland gravel roads every day of the year. Sorry, they're not even close.
  14. I see you also live in Somerset West. I yiu like riding Helderberg, go ride the Witfontein trails in George. If you like flow trails like G-spot, go ride the trail park. If you like klapping the gravel roads on Wannabees, go ride the gravel roads in the Garden Route.
  15. GRTP is a bit of a drive from Sedgefield, so if you don't want to do that, then take.the gravel bikes a d ride the many gravel roads. One of which will probably take you past GRTP. But to be honest, the 23km drive from Sedgefield is worth it, and GRTP is one of the best trail destinations in the country. Ride the trails when you can, they may not be there tomorrow.
  16. I had the same thought, but then I just got a smaller toolbox and put my To-go tools in there. Lo and behold, over a few weeks it became my main toolbox, and now I have a box in the corner of my workshop with the less often used tools, and a little box that can fix nearly anything. I'm not even mad about it.
  17. Naah, your friends need some cement. And maybe to spend less time on flow trails and add in a rocky trails every now and then.
  18. Sjoe, Mouton's Valley is a lekker day on the bike. Registration and signing out was super slick. These type of events is where I'll be spending in the future, this was way more fun than racing these trails for me. Defs one to put on the list for next year again. Delanie en span, rerig baie dankie.
  19. Interesting. My fear is that the swerkater pulls out the locking pin and steals my trailer or bike carrier. So any device that makes it harder to steal will better. But I also understand why the other guy wants to be able to remove it quickly.
  20. Shucks. I prefer to learn out of other's misfortunes. Since I'm running shimano 12s now, so you mind sharing where I'll have to get filing?
  21. Agreed I have a Blackburn Switch Wrap toolset that lives on my bike, and I don't think I'll ever go back to one of those folding multitools with the short Allen keys. https://www.blackburndesign.com/p/switch-wrap-bicycle-tool-kit/
  22. That is great! The removable towbar's rattle on my wife's previous car irritated me a lot. Bonus points if you can adapt it to be able to lock somehow, I reckon it is a question of time before we will see stolen trailers and bike racks with luggage and bikes etc taken with the towball and all.
  23. If you don't do a crash replacement, please throw it away. A compromised helmet is unsafe, for kids as well.
  24. Ja dis rof. And there are cheaper options. https://www.strandhardware.co.za/topman-240mm-z-saw-folding-saw-tack-in-rough?gclid=Cj0KCQjwyN-DBhCDARIsAFOELTlH5-25Zc2IrFVtvjUQ7UmH1YiUZ_93QgIQUv7Aj1cp1DI1O_6aQAkaAkrGEALw_wcB https://www.takealot.com/agricut-folding-pull-saw-180mm/PLID65623750 But we use a couple of other brand's hand saws for work, and if I don't use the silky, I reach for a chainsaw. And no one else may use my Silky on site.
