  1. Hangover is essentially dehydration. A saline drip adds a lot or fluids back into the system. It definitely helps with hangovers.
  2. Saw this and thought of this thread.
  3. In our school all sports results were read out in assembly, sometimes by learners. It was tradition that someone from the matric class read out a fake sport event from the weekend all year round. Always with a straight face. I remember the Super Tube team, the Trekker ry team and the Apie team. (ie Monkey - the code for masturbation at the time.) It would go something like this: Die Apie spanne het die naweek téén Rondebosch deelgeneem. Die 1ste span het met 4 balle geseëvier, die tweede span het deur geskraap met een blou bal en 'n baie seer pers bal."
  4. I think we have similar criteria. I have a pair of Ocean Polarised sunglasses that look similar to Oakley Frogskins that I use for everything from weddings, driving, MTB and running. Definitely more on the fashionable side, but they work lekker and were cheap, so it's all hunkydory.
  5. Looks like the top coat flaking off? Start putting money away for a new frame. Ride it til it breaks properly, you'll be surprised how far you get. Edit: only saw the crack on the pivot now. Yip, that is a crack. Wether it's just the top coat or paint coat or cracked through all the way is the question. Either way, that sucks.
  6. I reckon that sounds right for most high end retail business start ups. You can bootstrap it, but in the cycling market boot strapping doesn't look to great when compared to the concept and franchise stores. That 1bar could probably carry the shop for the first year if you don't draw a salary and don't run into cash flow issues.
  7. 8k minimum order isn't a lot. I remember in my youth when I was involved with wholesale the initial order on cycling apparel was set high enough to buy a decent size curve in two three basic styles. ie Full curve of Bibs, shorts and shirts. If you made the investment they were willing to provide branding etc to help make it look good in store. And yet there was grumbling from stores. WDF Frikkie, as jou rakke sleg lyk en jy het nie iemand se grootte gaan jy niks verkoop nie. One thing I can say, dealing with the Mom's and Pop's Store type of small business can be very satisfying, and very frustrating.
  8. General comment: If you are asking entrepreneurial questions, ask an entrepreneur. There are two ways of looking at a problem. The one viewpoint sees all the pitfalls, the other is looking for a creative solution. Listen to wise counsel. You'll need to think way out of the box to procure stock in a time of shortage where suppliers will honor their existing customers first. Maybe partner with a shop in another area. get access to their suppliers, either for a nominal cut or to combine buying power or something like that.
  9. I have one of the Able filters. Coffee still tastes great, I settled on a routine/recipe/process with it, and managed to get it consistently great. On that note, I should make more coffee with it, not going anywhere means I may be out of practice. My main reason for liking the SS filter is because it's less of a hassle, and packing is easier, as I never forget the filter that lives in the AP.
  10. I love my aeropress. When traveling the first things I pack is the Aeropress and my Porlex grinder.
  11. I see it on the 4x4community.co.za site as well. "Where can I have my XYZ serviced where it will be done right, with the right tools and consumables and to the right spec, but it will be cheap." To the OP: Pay good service for what it's worth. No one wants a cheap lawyer when they get caught with a hand in the cookie jar. But fortunately yih have options. You can send it to Spez in stellies, they have the right stuff and know-how. Or you can send it to Droo at Stoke Suspension Works. There is Cogent in PTA and Robbie at RBC in PE. As for me, my suspension goes to Droo. No matter what they charge. But in all the years it went there, I never felt ripped off, their prices are reasonable. I say this as I do basic suspension services (lowers oil change) myself and thus know what is involved when servicing dampers, so my higher grade stuff is gladly farmed out to the experts.
  12. Don't think I've posted this current guise? Ever since putting the Pike on I've been having a lot of fun on it. Good clean muddy fun. Now if I put the flats back on it will be proper British Hooligan Spec.
  13. I suspect it was over fuelling. Now if only the guy with the technical knowledge came back to me with his report I'd know. But alas, no one at Ford SA cares about customers.
  14. Their welding is holding up. However their injectors seems to hate their pistons, and are hellbent on melting them.
  15. Yes. And yes, and I promise you that an mtb is still more comfortable than a gravel bike with xplr. The xplr gravel bike will however be lighter at similar price points, and probably by slightly faster.
  16. Ja I get that. Sounds like my battle with Ford. At least they are willing to fix their crap under warranty. I'll pay more next time to not buy a Ranger again.
  17. I'd take the steal frame I 'n a heart beat. 10spd works on 12-142 hubs. Just need to have a Shimano HG freebody. So for the cost of a hub and a headset cup you get better geometry and the ability to put a better fork on later. Essentially future proofing that bike quite a bit.
  18. Well I definitely won't be doing the stage race thing again. But I might just do a Cape Cross credit card adventure. And will continue the Weekend with Friends in a place with trails. And I've done Piket-Bo-Berg's open weekends twice. Swiped for that entry without batting an eyelid. The Maxi Race Recce runs are lekker. 400zars gets you a lekker course, a limited field, some goodies, lunch and medics on standby for if a pawpaw accidentally steps into a fan. The Gone2Gone runs are also lekker. A gpx route, a month to do it, a board at the shop door for a post-run selfie, followed by g2g special at the coffee shop next door. Mahala entry. Won't line an event organizer's pocket, but it creates a lot of traction for the brand. And I'll probably do an enduro event again. Because racing friends in strava just doesn't bring down the red mist like the timing pod's beeping.
  19. How old is the wheel? Contact Pyga first and ask if there is a warranty on it?
  20. Saturday's ride was harder than expected. Because Princess doesn't think it's necessary to pedal.
  21. Pros : Keeps the mud off your face and fork stanchions Cheap Easy to DIY Fit and forget Cons: Won't keep the mud off your downtube, drivetrain and shoes. Stones can get caught in it of you have tall tyre knobs. But that will happen to most mud guards.
  22. The problem with these is that it's open next to the stanchions. Around the stanchions is exactly where you want it to be closed.
  23. Agreed. I go running. Or ride my singlespeed if I still want to ride. I loved thrashing around on it on the green belts this afternoon. Good clean muddy fun. I don't really train either. I go play outside.
