  1. Hi River Rat,I'm not one for a lot of calculations,I ride a 2x10 on both my 26er and 29er.I did the Notties and last year the JB2C will start it on Friday again. My configuration 26/39 upfront and 11-36 at the back,I spin quite easily up the hills the 3x10 brigade does not leave me going up nor going down the other side.Guess what I'm trying to say is ride and then make up your mind.in Afrikaans we have a saying"papier is geduldig"meaning I can justify anything on paper. My guess is once you have ridden it you will not go back

  8. I have been riding a 2X10 for a year now first on my 26er and now on my 29er.My wife (50Kg's) have been doing the same.We are riding a 26/39 ratio and will not change back to 3 blades.Riding a 2x10 means using your full cluster at the back 36-11 and not only certain gears at the back.It does take some time getting used to but once you've got it,it is as "Skylark" said sublime riding.

  14. For me it is about value for money, believe the Epic organisers can take a leaf out of the Joberg2C book where where rider counts your needs are catered for no matter how small. You see amazing places in our country and the vibe & atmosphere is 2nd to none, that is why we are doing it again. Oh yes it is not a walk in the park under estimate this race and it will bite you
