  2. It might seem like opinion, but account ratings, community feedback and bikehub pay are massive differences.
  3. short answer - because they dropped ~$30m on a superbowl ad campaign with accompanying promotions. 280m views just on YT. longer answer that I linked to earlier: Temu is a game changer in the US online shopping space in that they have found a loophole to ship cheap stuff to US customers without paying duties. They have also "gamefied" the experience trough their app with challenges. So they have just exploded in the last 6 months.
  4. if you want to watch it, this link with Portugeuse commentary hasn;t been you see schnaaied yet.
  5. unfortunately the first start of RASA is 4 days after comrades, the 18 day window to Berg would have been fun though! 2025?
  6. pretty sure it will. Think this is a 40mm maxxis rambler on it. can answer you tonight if you wanna know for sure.
  7. yes I got that wrong. he won nove mesto sep 2020 commentator slipped in that the top4 were going for first ever victories, but koretsky has won a few too.
  8. lemme guess. bikemarket.co.za? They have trained a human to act like a bot. Put an advert up and you get a limited offer for your item at 30-50% of what you've put it up for. it's spam. you can block them.
  9. joh. go Alan (3rd), maiden win by andreasson (thanks tiz-cycling)
  10. great result! looks like Matt can buy the next round of Beers with the $300 he won here https://www.seaotterclassic.com/gravel/
  11. https://www.timeslive.co.za/sunday-times/sport/2024-04-14-how-many-medals-can-team-south-africa-win-at-the-paris-olympics/ Alan is listed as a possible medal contender, of which we have very few. I'd say he has a 15% chance of a medal at best, he has been consistently in the top6 for this olympic cycle, but not enough 123 podiums to think he can pull it off on the day with so much pressure. plus pidcock and mvdp will be there to complicate things further. Honestly, the whole gold silver bronze metric is not conducive to an inclusive games in the modern era. Anyone who makes an olympic final should be measured on the table, instead we only get the big countries and a few outliers.
  12. bit late, but phone around is probably best bet.
  13. I wasn't saying that, do everything you can.
  14. totally, or you can just by clothing/shoes with reflective logos on it, you can never have too much! but this is fit and forget.
  15. I suppose cyclists (sport and/or commuter) choose to not use lights for a combination of reasons: * they are not there/charged when they go riding early morning and don't feel like fiddling * they can see just fine, and don't care about being seen * they just don't own them. As a cyclist you can get irritated by these ghosts in the dark either because they are a hazard to you, or you are concerned for their safety (or both). The official stats from road accident deaths are sobering. ~43% of deaths are pedestrians. 2022 - 12436 deaths, of which 5347 where pedestrians. about 15 per day. Many of these will be drunk pedestrians, walking into the road - we're not changing that habit in a hurry. but some will just be walking in the darkness and are impossible to see. If only black label gave away free beanies with reflective strips for every case sold these numbers might come down. The simplest upgrade for cyclists which has no battery requirements is 3m reflective tape. I use the white one, put it on chain stays, seatpost and even small bits on pedal as that moves.
  16. wait. so there's a potential problem with Assos and/or Power saddles? doesn't the hub go 404 offline for a day if anyone complains about either?
  17. so they got sold out. That's a case to order more and a wider range.
  18. exactly. for comparison
  19. @CaptainKipper yes. this bike doesn't exist without photos. @cvdup maybe not what you're looking for, but decathlon classify this as a "touring bike". i don't see why, no visible mounting attachments for one and a suspension fork. https://www.decathlon.co.za/mountain-bikes/329414-54169-29quote-touring-mountain-bike-explore-540-blue-black.html
  20. Van Rysel RCR is winning UCI races and sold out immediately https://velo.outsideonline.com/road/road-gear/so-fast-it-out-paced-the-order-book-decathlons-van-rysel-super-bike-sells-out-in-hours/ Dubau is not going to badly with the rockrider XC bike either https://bikerumor.com/pro-bike-check-joshua-dubau-rockrider-xc-bike/ They've got some decent bikes available, and i guess if they sell enough they might send out more in the range. Anyone biting? https://www.decathlon.co.za/3414-bicycle?order=product.price.desc&q=0
  21. depending on where you're starting from, Marremsboerie is going to add on some extra distance. atlantis=>darling=>hopefield is your alternative but it's not a great ride either. the tar section has f0k0l shoulder and is windy in places. the dirt from darling is full of sinkplaat during summer too.
  22. If you are actually selecting a bike on its carbon footprint, I really hope you have picked all the other low hanging fruit in your life first. A kilogram of carbon fibre is not going to shift the needle on the planet dying or living, but have fun recycling your steel frame when you do it. If you're going bespoke money no object UK frame build, support a Saffa (assuming you can wait long enough) https://www.saffronframeworks.com/ordering/
  23. get one of these for every 6 enclosed loos. will really free up the queue. assuming it's a mtb race, make sure the route is marked with both lime arrows on the ground and direction boards. only release the gpx of route once you have confirmed it. If you don't have 99% confidence of the route then get that sorted first if possible. Nothing worse than someone loading version 1.2 of the route on wednesday to their garmin when you have version 1.4 on race day. people will think their electronics will never lie.
  24. Did you or @milky4130 take any pictures? They claim a plastic free race and had a lot of cleaners busy during the event. I think they might send another crew if prompted, weather is good for it now too. I'm considering a light jog this afternoon, pilates yesterday was not that bad
