  1. must say Israel have managed to jump out of the backline and are assured of their spot now. https://lanternerouge.com/2025/08/20/cofidis-and-uno-x-fight-for-the-last-worldtour-license-uci-ranking-analysis/
  2. meant to include this.
  3. I'd put a car analogy and ask you what it was like to be the first Chana owner in the country, but bikes is way different. You can literally compare components, the only thing that is directly from the manufacturer is the frame itself. If the Scott has own lable fittings (synchros, right?) then you don't really know from model to model. but if it is shimano branded stuff then easy enough to compare. but i do agree on your general point, Titan is killing it in the kids range because they got the pricepoints right. Avalanche are regaining share here too with a good focus
  4. having an issue with HEIC upload for an advert. just converted all to png but anything else i should have done?
  5. Thanks, makes perfect sense. just needed to read down further! The 100kg max seems a bit conservative, considering I'm happy to stand on my towbar and it's not close to breaking. what does influence things is moment/lever effect. if you're stacking up the rack, then heavier bikes on first would be a better option (if possible)
  6. got the Dyna6 at R1250 for wifey. (comes with a bladder too which retails at R1050). passed the test up the mountain, just wants to find a better way to stash the bite valve when running. highly recommended. doing puffer next weekend, and then noticed that one of the sponsors is a local manufacturer https://rockrabbitsports.co.za/product-category/hydration-packs/ haven't used them but they do look very well thought out - they even added a feature for bus drivers to hold the pole! and you're putting food on the table for someone down the road.
  7. I see the max in SA is 100kg. so by extension, how does this (excellent looking) 6 bike offering work below?
  8. and he got more than that. 70 UCI points for the podium https://www.procyclingstats.com/race/volta-a-portugal/2025/gc this was a low ranking event, no one in the top250 there, but you got to race whoever shows up.
  9. 31, maybe had a few more years but when it's time, it's time. The constant visa issues is always a struggle (or so I'm told) for those with only the green mamba. Possibility exists that we only have AHatherly in the world tour next year, if that actually counts.
  10. yup talking about the Active Gear specifically. The cap from R500 went down to R250 in the past year (might not be news to many).
  11. RANT:I continue to be frustrated by Vitality. despite all the benefits, I'm convinced that the run around you have to do to jump through their hoops is just not worth it. all I want to do is try get a Sportsman's discount voucher. I think they're still available. I have both the Discovery and Discovery Bank apps. but no amount of searching there or on the website will unlock this. Remember to get your reward number or QR code in the Discovery app at any time by selecting Vitality Active Rewards > Fitness > Fitness gear > Active Gear. maybe I'm the dumb one, but it's almost like the design goal is to just irritate users /RANT over edit: rant solved. seems like the discount went from R500 to R250. oh well.
  12. whoah this has got wild! Thread title says it all. maybe time to change it to motorists vs cyclists vs cyclists
  13. With respect. Your analysis that "it sits on the fence" is entirely incorrect. Mamil is saying that black is the same as high vis/colours. He is saying there is NO difference. The studies where relevant all debate the amount of the difference. so for example, the first conclusion: Fluorescent/reflective clothing such as a ‘high-vis’ jacket is not very good at increasing a cyclists' visibility/conspicuity to drivers, in particular after dark [Wood et al 2010, Rogé et al 2019]. That is still a win for high-vis being better than black. This is such an easy argument to win, since the question is:"is it easier to see colour than black?". Next up, do square pegs fit into round holes? fair enough. this could be a totally separate point that I'm pretty sure I never disputed the nuances of since we got stuck on the binary question.
  14. so there we go, I'm sure it's great but R3999 it must be flippen awesome! @peepeekaitjie Ignore my decathlon advice unless you can go instore - i just placed an order here. go have a looksee as there is a 50% sale - https://www.adventureinc.co.za/product-category/osprey/hydration-packs/ can backup that the ABG is incredible. any issues and they sort it out pronto, or replace. incredible.
  15. When I said "you" in the 2nd person, I wasn't saying You(mamil) but You(cyclist). So no, I did not wish for you to get hit. but i do like this top you're wearing here anyways I change my mind all the time, mostly with a position backed up by evidence. Show me some solid research that conclusively says wearing bright clothing/black makes no difference to visibility and I'll concede gracefully. For now it looks like I'm ahead here (but it would appear you're not open to changing your mind). https://lightingresearchgroup.sites.sheffield.ac.uk/projects/lycra/past-studies-about-cyclist-conspicuity So using that argument you might as well not even have a light? We'll have to agree to disagree on this one, as this chestnut is not going away.
  16. did i miss a rebrand?! now before
  17. kiff. yungsta is 17 and doing the hard work in europe already.
  18. cool idea. but only if people with 1000 posts can upvote!
  19. budget option- decathlon has a 10l Evadict currently on sale for R1k. mine has been just fine
  20. looking at the raw figs, he does seem past his peak and is currently the 378th ranked rider. He fits in the experienced pro cat, and hasn;t gone the superdom AYates route - not sure who would pick him up (and from that article - if he really wants it)
  21. clearly the message isn't getting through then. it's fine eventually Rapha and Le Col and Pas Normal will bring out stuff that looks fashionable and can be seen by motorists. Until then, look cool when you get taken out.
  22. bit of homework* but this could work. ride/drive to Van loveren(8km). buy a mtb permit. do their mtb route on the lower sections. routes map here exit it to the farm gravel road near "Goedemoed" get to the robertson/mcgregor road (langverwachten) and go right on the tar road to the Koningsrivier road here ride this to mcgregor stop for coffee ride the gravel road south at first all the way to the R317 junction here return to van loveren, about 65km round trip from VL, last 8km is tar can make it shorter by doing the Strykhoogte/vrolikheid from McG. the 1:50 000 maps are here, https://htonl.dev.openstreetmap.org/ngi-tiles/#14/-33.9695/19.8650 general rule of thumb is if 3/4 farms are on the same road then it is public. *i would contact VL first up about the gravel riding option on their farm routes - this is tricky as the person who picks up the phone might think your are nuts and it's easier to just say no. Also check the river as it is currently 60cumecs, and you need to cross their lowlevel bridge.
  23. There's two different issues here, but your advice applies to both. I'm not playing the Temu game, but this thread opening post has opened my eyes to the profit opportunity here, buyer beware (Surprised to see Solomon's doing similar). Good thread, appreciated.
  24. go find Pete Calitz on youtube.he did it (and a ~25min vid of it)
