  1. I love my Vittoria Barzo 2,35 front and Saguaro 2,2 rear. Out of interest, I see people are using the Mezcal on the rear - major differences between the Mezcal and the Saguaro as a rear tyre?
  2. Pro racers are required to ride with two powers meters (the trainer and an additional unit) to make sure that the numbers are similar.
  3. You're doing it wrong - you shouldn't be able to look at the view during your suffering session...
  4. What's going on with that stem?
  5. Thankfully, my wife fully understands my riding and often joins me. We have done many events together, even multiday such as Berg and Bush. She was raised in a family of sporting people and I often ride with her dad (bonus points here). She is also a strong independent woman, so as long as I am considerate of her and her time, eveyone is happy. The only catch is I have to do all of the bike maintenance (I enjoy this, so it's all good)... between us, we have 8 bikes
  6. It is a new trainer - it uses strain gauges for power measurement, similar to other power meters such as Quarq, which means that the calibration isn't required as it can be auto calibrated. Previous generations used optical power measurement, which is why the new one is more accurate - it is in fact a new trainer. There is also a demand in the market for rocker movement, as is evident by all of the rocker boards etc that are being sold, so it was very clever of Wahoo to include this in a compact design and make it backward compatible with previous models. Then they have also put in a wired port, which should be interesting for future installations once it works - some people have connectivity issues. I think this is a great new product which Wahoo have really given some thought too - it's not just a new paint job and then classified as a the next gen...
  7. If I won the lotto, this would be my bike of choice! Would love to have one of these, but at that price tag, it will always be a dream...
  8. Thinking about it now, I have also never bought a bottle. When I first started cycling, I was a student and tried to spend as little as possible. An energade bottle worked perfectly, although it did rattle about in the bottle cage, but it cost a lot less than R200...
  9. Good luck, they have become like hen's teeth unfortunately. You won't be able to find them locally, they will need to be imported.
  10. It's not just Spez - the majority of the big brands are charging similar pricing with similar specs - the bike industry is losing its mind!
  11. Try Dave - he is in the Fourways area and is a fantastic mechanic.
  12. I don't see why not. I have made the comment before, that if I wasn't racing on the road, I would only have the Farr gravel bike (posted above) with two sets of wheels, one with road tyres and one with gravel tyres. *Edit: You may need to play around with the size of the chainring, as gearing requirements for the road are different to gravel
  13. I have been washing my bikes with a 50/50 mix of clean green for years and never had a painwork issue. 100% Cleangreen concentrate is used for the chain and cassette. As with everything in the bike industry, if it has the work "bike" on it, it costs 3x more... All these fancy soaps etc. are a complete waste of money!
  14. Would love to try this combo, but with the eye-watering price tag, I think I shall stick with my Barzo / Saguaro combo - been very happy with this.
  15. Agreed. I have sold a lot of things on the Hub over the past decade, so it's good to give back.
  16. Will I be able to comment on adverts if I'm a plus member?
  17. Agreed with this, likely a material defect with incorrect hardening or plating. Get a warranty claim for the defective part.
  18. While the exchange rate plays a role, it ultimately comes down to supply and demand. Worldwide, there has been a scramble to purchase indoor trainers as different countries go into lockdown etc. at different times. As a result, the demand has massively increased and therefore, the suppliers increase their prices (they know people will still purchase them).
  19. Hi David, While checking my intervals.icu page, I noticed that my runs last week (before lockdown), aren't showing a load, where as the previous weeks, a training load has been calculated for both my running and cycling efforts. Did something change in an update, or do I need to modify some settings?
  20. Is this on the 3, or the 3 HR? I have a 3 HR and have no issues - all notifications come through. Don't the 3 and the 3 HR use the same software?
  21. According to Zwift, they reached a new peak of 24341 people!
  22. J2C, Two Oceans etc. have all been cancelled - it's only a matter of time until this event is cancelled. All events for the next two or three months will be cancelled.
  23. I originally built my gravel bike as my N+1 bike, but I find I ride it all the time, especially towards winter when it's dark on the morning rides. The extra comfort and not having to worry about every tiny hole on the road, plus the power of disc brakes makes it my go to a lot of the time. It's also fast enough to keep up with road bikes. Will it ever replace my road bike? No - as I race and the geometry isn't quite the same. If I weren't racing on the road, I would only have a gravel bike with two different wheel options.
