  1. I wish you all strength and long life.
  2. Does he give any tips in this regard? Or is the reader left assume that one should use the pages from the book for this lofty purpose?
  3. Ive been battling with bronchitis for over a week, and am also finishing a course of antibiotics - only starting to come right now, but the cold is definitely not helping with tight chest.
  4. Hectic Vetseun, glad you're ok.
  5. If you manage that laudable achievement, I will start a dedicated pizza fund for you, but only if you promise to eat it whilst your head is still up your ass.
  6. Would be nice if the Powerbeam and Tacx could race!
  7. Lol, I enjoy your sense of humour, Rouxtjie!
  8. This talk has the potential to get get messy, and to place both Wayne and Carpet in an invidious position. TALUS' point, with all due respect, is totally lacking in merit. If Hollard are paying the claim, Carpet will obviously not have to answer in the affirmative when asked by other insurers if her claim was ever rejected, because it was paid. No brainer. Think about the following: Cause 1: I was moved to donate because I empathized with Carpet as her insurance claim was rejected and she is without a frame, Cause 2. I donated to the cause because Carpet, of her own volition, decided to withdraw her claim, even after the insurer advised that they would pay. These are two very different causes. I personally support cause 1 wholeheartedly, but have no interest at all in contributing to Cause 2. There are legal issues involved in changing the underlying basis for the cause unilaterally after the donations have been made. If indeed the cause has changed, every contributor needs to be refunded unless he or she has specifically agreed to forfeit the money or for it to applied elsewhere. This is not something which can be put to a vote, or be the subject of the "hub judicial system". If there is still an excess, or a shortfall or short payment - sure the funds collected should be used as a top up to make sure that Carpet is able to get back on her bike. This accords with the original intended cause. The balance needs to be refunded pro rata to all but those who direct to the contrary. Speaking for myself (and only myself) I would be happy for my contribution to go to little Jacques, whom I never stop thinking about. Or to CHOC. Or to an animal shelter, or an old age home. Or any charity in Dips and Wayne's discretion. I also don't mind if my contribution is used for bank charges or to compensate Wayne for the time and ball ache. Finally: please note that I hold no shares, am not employed by, and have absolutely no connection whatsoever to Hollard. In fact, I would personally never insure any of my own assets with them. It nevertheless remains irresponsible, and most presumptuous to pressure Carpet into withdrawing her claim. Nobody (contributor or not) has the right to do that, and certainly not in pursuance of a campaign or an agenda such as has been contemplated by certain Hubbers, above in this thread.
  9. Indeed, Silver De Lange has nothing to do with Carpet's predicament. You are quite there. But you brought him up in the first place: dunno why. You are quite wrong that this forum carries no weight or legitimacy. A rather strange assertion. edit: It was not my intention to take needless issue with you, or to derail the thread. To put my original post into context, I am happy that Hollard have reviewed their decision, and have intimated that they are going to do right by Carpet. I am sure we are in agreement on this.
  10. No. But the poor oke came here asking a legitimate cycling related related question, and was treated shabbily in my view.
  11. I think its fantastic that Hollard have/ will come to the party, in circumstances where they were not legally obliged so to do, and that they are adept and savvy enough to gauge the temperature generated in the social media, and to act accordingly, and I think that should be gratefully acknowledged. They should not suffer abuse for their decision to reverse the original repudiation; they should be applauded for coming onto the hub in the manner that they have done. A more sensitive issue, which requires debste, is what should be done with all the money Wayne has collected, now that the insurance claim is (may be) entertained.
  12. He kidnapped a little girl, ffs - you are totally out of line.
  13. Has anyone receive an sms with their race no for this race on Sunday in the Cradle? I have not got an sms - but had huge difficulty entering the race, as Cycle Event's payment gateway kept on declining my card without valid cause. I emailed them, and they said it was a Nedbank issue, but my mate who is with actually FNB experienced the same thing. Eventually, I gave up, and arranged to pay by EFT and the guy from Cycle Events confirmed by email that I was entered, but I have my doubts, as I do not have an sms. All this admin for just trying to enter a race, is a bit irritating. Just wondering why nobody else is bitching?
  14. I pop 1000mg of Vitamin C, which i down straight after the ride with a recovery drink. This is when your immune system is most vulnerable. Works for me - don't remember when last I was sick. PS: I also wash my hands thoroughly and often like I have OCD - with Dischem branded triclosan soap

  21. I think the dude who schedules the ads fell asleep, woke up with 4 k's to go realized he was in ***, so decided to schedule his own disciplinary inquiry by blotting out the finish. Suicide by MTN coffee. I put it to you.
  22. Bloody fools, ffs
  23. Dont pick up the bikes the day before the race! that will be a recipe for a horrible ride. You will need to get used to your bikes, so do take the opp to ride around cape town a few days before the race. It is imperative that the bikes are properly set up for you or your race experience will be diminished by pain. Also, parking at the Argus is a huge stress, so try and stay in easy cycling distance of the start. Its much easier to manage. It does not have to be round the corner. I usually stay in Fresnaye, about a 20 min slow cycle from the start, which gives a nice warm up. Lastly, don't listen to the people who tell you that the hills ain't tough. They are bloody tough, and need to be treated with respect . Ie proper training, either on a trainer or spinning at gym if the weather precludes real riding. Good luck, the Argus will be an experience you will never forget! It will eclipse everything else that you do on your holiday- but you must practice riding in a bunch! Essential survival skill when sharing the road with a few thousand.
  24. Thank you Bobbie, it Was fantastic meeting you and your kids
