  1. entered, i love that lid, uber excited!!!
  2. Also 27.5, 29 ers are gay
  3. Hmm, that sock runs at a very high pressure if I am not mistaken don't think you need to deflate but new personally I would just to be sure you don't end up with an explosion.
  4. i would put the saddle back on the bike if i was you from a medical standpoint no clue hope you figure it out, sounds unpleasant.
  5. patches my man you are a legend!!!
  6. learn to ride properly and this wont be a problem
  7. when you say catches the disc do you mean on the top/ edge of the disc or the actual breaking surface? if its the edge of the disc you are going to need to get a slightly bigger spacer to move the calliper away from the disc, if you mean the breaking surface and its catching evenly of both sides as opposed to just one side you are going to need to remove the pads, push the pistons out. try installing the pads again and pump the breaks until you have bite and the break performs as it should. if is only one side do as routjie said and you are golden.
  8. that has to be the dumbest design i have ever heard of, i agree with you the threads should be counter threaded so you can remove etc without destroying the whole unit. i suggest some red lock tight and prey you never ever have to remove the inner thread
  9. As for the op, name and shame, the owner may be within his rights but sounds like a complete dick move to me. I would take my money elsewhere and let them know why. You can't change people being idiots unless they know they are being idiots and it's costing them money in the process. Or just for the sake of having a fight which is why I would do it
  10. I Find this very hard to believe. I am not saying you are a liar but I know the guys pretty well and is not very likely that You would be ignored if you asked to see something in a display case. Sure they are busy and the first guy stating he would find someone else to help may have forgotten due to the demands of the customer he was with for a moment or 2 but being ignored after being pointed out does not sound like the store I know. I may be wrong though but definitely suggest you go back and speak to Nick or Dean even if just to make them aware. They are extremely customer focused and I am willing to bet they will do everything they can to make it up to you, even if it's just from a personal attention point of view. Just my 2c worth.
  11. lol CAAD perhaps they are trying to say that only gorillas need apply as its a bike for doing to stupid *** not multi-day stage races, nice that there are cage nuts should you want to use them though.
  12. Hey guys, ok so i have been bike shopping/ looking and need a little advise as i just cant seem to find much information locally apart from what the bike stores are telling me. i trust my LBS implicitly but need to do some checking as their opinion and advice may be slanted by the possible 40k bike sale. so my questions are, i know Rocky Mountain have a decent enough name overseas but i haven't seen very many here in SA. what are you opinions of them as a brand and are the bikes decent compared to the likes of Scott, Santa Cruz, Giant etc. does anyone know what the local support on the bikes is like, i know there are agents and components i can pretty much get from any LBS and am sure my LBS will do a warranty claim etc against shimano/ SRAM etc etc locally in the event of failure, but what about the frame and support thereof? for the price of 40k what would the other options be, initially i looked at the 2014 Scott genius LT, 170mm travel seems a bit much but i ride 160 now and am fine so don't suppose its going to be that different, the Altitude is 150 rear so i may need to get used to that as well. i really like the ride 9 feature that allows you to change the geometry and suspension to your riding style in more ways than i could have ever imagined but it may be too much and its a feature i am sure i could live without, do you think for an average non professional, i fall off ***, rider its too much choice? i see they have moved away from bearings on the rear linkage to bushings, i am not an engineer but surely they are going to need more maintenance than a bearing due to friction on the bushing causing wear? as i say just looking for some opinions and advice as for me 40k on a bike is more than i ever thought i would spend and its a hell of an investment( not from any other perspective than investing in my passion and enjoyment) thanks.
  13. thats not that steep, R20 a beer on a hot day in JHB is no worse than 15-20 bucks at a restaurant now days IMHO
  14. i find that price ok, i know its a little steep but as all have stated its a Sunday and it did save your race. me i would have lost a link and used an existing chain pin to macguyver a plan if the price was too high. but i am not a competitive oke and just the ride was enough for me! but on the note of being ripped off, did anyone see or have the misfortune of trying to buy a worse roll from vuyos van thing in the hospitality area?R40 for a single 15 cm worse roll and R10 for additions like onions etc.now thats ripping the ring out of it and taking advantage of people at an event if ever i have seen it.
  15. Juniors bush tunnel, best piece of riding I have done in the last year, its pretty technical but can be pinned if you aren't scared to let go of your breaks in fact most of mankele is awesome
  16. nice review, will consider when I am next looking at tires.
  17. Sheesh I cant remember to be completly honest, was about a month or so ago at a guess, perhaps a little longer.
  18. Hey nofearnofun, yeah I get them from the boys at international trade, am not sure where else stocks them, have seen at mikes bikes before but dont know of the prices, I spend a lot of time on the spruit right round the corner from jason and Jacques office so for me it's easy to drop in on my way to work etc.
  19. definitely the Wierwolf, i like to know i am planted to the trail no matter what, the back of the bike slipping makes me nervous, i know the wolverine is a cx/am tire but the Wierwolf is, as they say, Aggressive XC / All Mountain / Enduro so i feel it would offer better grip.
  20. i made a move from my favorite tires of all( continental Mountain King 2 UST)to WTB bronsons recently, they are 2.3 but i swear they look bigger than my MK's at 2.4??so far they feel very similar in terms of how they handle, a little faster rolling which i put down to the closer tread pattern on the center lugs and very sticky compund.am looking to change to a WTB Wierwolf for the back but so far i love these. the move was spurred on by buying a set of conti MK 2 protection tires and fitting them as tubeless,*** idea i must say, they were almost impossible to seat, burped very easily and felt like they were flexing in the sidewall when cornering. that being said i burped the front clean off the rim on the trail and had to fit a tube and they felt like a completely different animal so perhaps the sidewall just doesn't like running as a tubeless setup??
  21. To be blunt no because a mountain bike should never bs riden on the road. Buy a road bike
  22. That chick is frikken insane, 96 down the side of a mountain with no breaks. WTF!!!
  23. i dont know that particular setup or bike but would suspect the shock is putting pressure on the bolt, try removing the shock first to lessen the pressure and the use a bolt or something similar in size to the one you are trying to remove to push it out, you may need to find a rubber mallet and gently tap to get it out. just dont use too much force as this will cause other issues
  24. I call bs from the lbs point of view, frames do have weight limitations but these would be the same for a 26 and 29 version of the same bike, within a slight variation, i.e the specialized camber which moved from a 26 wheels to 29 this year if I am not mistaken. Carbon has a much lower weight restriction than alu but again depending on the weave etc these vary, oh and dont foget price. As for being too big I suppose if he is Michael Jordan then yes otherwise just buy the correct size frame be done with it.
  25. damn it just just drooled all my coffee on the frikken keyboard damn sexy toys those
