  1. Hope has their own version as far as I know
  2. Dirtbreath beat me to it. Same point though
  3. If that falls check with the guys at international trade, they are the hope agents so they may have the hose for you. http://www.intltrade.co.za
  4. Fark mate cant help you there, I only know of them cause I saw them when I was shopping for new hubs, they do ship to SA but wouldn't know what that would cost, have heard they are **** expensive to ship large items though so hope this doesn't fall into that category.
  5. Check out the yardstick at superstar components. http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=72&products_id=532 Stupidly wide at a whole yard, look really cool though. Is that wide enough for you?
  6. i agree its an education thing, i did the Jacaranda walk yesterday and felt way to guilty to drop my water bag thingy in the street like the thousands before and no doubt after me did. yeah they may have a clean up crew etc but for me i just couldnt do it, feels too strange, i carried mine and the families till i found a bin only because they deserve it i better go hide now.
  7. contact the race officials and let them know, you have their numbers. may be a case of he said she said but at least they dont get away free and clear. while the hub and the opinions are violent, opinionated, forceful and most time completely off topic( in relation to something that ignites anger or an emotive response about something someone has said or done), they are only related to the hub and the immediate members. those 2 ****** may not have any ties to the hub. take the fight to them i say.
  8. 100% name and shame( well pic and shame) pieces of **** like them deserve no respect should be beaten with a bat in my opinion.
  9. the 35k 94.7 is not technical at all, there is a river crossing and last year a couple of raised bridges but they are hardly drop offs etc. The trail isn't particularly easy but it's not particularly difficult either, all in all a nice day in the saddle. If you feel it is getting to scary lean back put your ass of the back of the saddle release the break and smile smile like a kid
  10. I got one of the life behind bars shirts and love it but beware they are a very small cut. Top quality but am pretty sure the smurfs were used as the models. I normally wear a med but ordered large based on advice from the guys at rooste. If I had gone with what I normally wear I wouldn't be able to wear the shirt. Going to be ordering a few more for sure
  11. wow i just spoke to astro, am definitely sending my ss frame there to get anodized, they have just quoted me 300 bucks to anodize in any color i want. astro for the win. super helpful as well.
  12. yes you can lube the cable but its more than likely just a little dirt, take the able out and clean with a degreaser and add some lube of choice, i like to use a little dry lube on the cable before i feed into the housing, should sort your issue no worries. have heard of guys packing the outer end caps with grease but not sure thats a good idea as dirt will turn it into a grinding paste.
  13. uh i assume by shock you mean fork? they are very different things you know, if your shock has a problem with clearance of the downtube thanks to the headset your frame is broken or the shock is in the wrong place.
  14. http://www.thehubsa....p-a-okie-today/ Here's the other side of that 3 sided coin ****** all round if you ask me.
  15. Bwhahahha i have both so i thinks one flat one cleat, a leg in lycra and one in baggies, oh and just to piss on a few batteries a vest with mesh for added ventilation. SeanN you could just wear your gimp suit
  16. great choice, give the guys at international trade a call and check with them. they are the agents in SA.speak to Jacques or Jason. if the budget is stretched ( as the LEV is flipping steep)consider the supernatural.http://www.intltrade.co.za/
  17. hey hey hey, leave the swampdogs out of this. poor buggers never hurt anyone as for the rest, sheesh angry much are we? some very high strung mense out there. as for the MTB Girls thread, i thought this was a very cool pic taken
  18. I Love my dropper post. its the best Money I have ever spent. Once you Get used to you will never be able to Comfortably ride a none dropper again !! I ride a KS Supernatural with 150mm drop. the KS are very well priced but i have One piece of piece of advice for all cable actuated system's, Find a small spring and use at the cable mount. this makes Sure no mud etc. stops the Cable from working. The hydraulic systems avoid this which is s win,
  19. You can but only as a last resort, you need to stretch the hell out of the tube to get it to fit. As a temporary solution me and a mate have made it work before but personally I wouldn't trust it as my spare. Rather use the correct tube and be sure
  20. He is talking ***, you can use ice tech rotors with any breaks but the advantages will not be there, ok they will but only very little, the heat dissipating properties will be completely lost in S.A.for just about any kind of riding you will be doing. If you want more stopping power get bigger rotors or Change to better breaks. The ice tech system only helps with heat dissipation and doesn't translate to direct stopping power but rather prolonged stopping power without boiling break fluid. Well not in any way you or any other weekend warrior will be able to tell. The real power comes from the improved modulation and breaking systems technology rather than the ice tech. Ok puzza Thursday advice done.
  21. awesome stuff, am an amiture photographer myself and wish i could get shots something close to. those, or even just the base used to photoshop the end result would be cool. nice find CaptainC
  22. check the disc, i had a center lock that had a bit of wear on it and i had exactly the same feel. my only option was to replace the hub i am afraid but if you have 6 bolt you may just need to tighten the disc up a bit. if its center lock make sure the spindles things haven't worm and tighten up if possible. should solve your issue.
  23. Lol for me it's no different than my normal riding I guess, been on the bike pretty much the whole year( my MTB that is) doing 50-80odd a weekend so should manage the 94.7 ok, no I am not competitive I I just ride for fun. May drop an hour or so on the spinning bike in front of the tv some evenings if the fancy takes me. Also doing the amashova with the wife next month so am retry sure we will be ok. Good luck to all with your training though.
  24. oh sorry forgot to put in this will be my 3rd race. i love it for one reason only. i get to ride parts of the city not ordinarily available to me.
  25. depending on how fit you are its going to make the ride a challenge or kill you!!! you actually dont realize how much the knobblies add to your rolling resistance. if its time you are after its going to slow you down significantly if its just an experience its going to make it harder. also 100 odd km on tar is not going to be good for your MTB knobblies. if you dont want to go the slicks route consider what new MTB tires are going to cost much sooner than you would ordinarily need them. i figure buy the slicks and use for the 94.7 if nothing else and shelve for the rest of the year. thats what i do with my RD bike. doesnt see the light of day till the 94.7 i am no pro but thats my 2c from experience
