  1. The Stage is really an awesome bike. I'm going to let mine loose at the Berg & Bush Descent next week, the perfect machine for those trails.
  2. Chuck Norris is Strava
  3. This is a great initiative. It is pitched perfectly to attract younger riders to the sport. It is challenging enough to make it exciting and competitive, yet not to tough technically for novice riders. Why then do so few girls take part? Same situation at the Durban events. We need to do more to get young girls racing or the future of competitive XCO is under threat.
  4. Have just added a Silverback (Syncra 1) to the family stable. Awesome looking bike, light and racy. German engineering.....
  5. How did the race go on Sunday?? Surely the new ride gave you an advantage??
  6. click on 'more reply options' then browse/attach
  7. Newest addition to my stable. Note the 'Herb' garden on display. Came across this carefully hidden away in the mountains in the Central Berg. The new Stage is awesome, very at home in the mountains as it is on the long district roads.
  8. Well put, this is pretty much the reason I have put my name down for the new Stage. Although, I must admit Spez have been good on the warrantee side. The Stage looks awesome, has two bottle cages, unique technology and it has Patrick behind it. Anyone keen on buying a 2015 Spez Marathon??
  9. Massmart, like other big format retailers, buy and sell to a price point. They cannot be criticized for not knowing about high end bikes. They sell what their target market wants.
  10. you get what you pay for, its not just marketing, its fact. Agree with the comments above, go 2nd hand with good specs. Although the market is now (understandably) 29er obsessed, you will get great deals on used 26er bikes on the Hub. If the bug bites properly, which it will, you will end up wanting to upgrade soon. So buy the best you can afford up front.
  11. Skill! Hope the bike gets a good clean after that.......
  12. It is fantastic to hear that you intend using natural products going forward. For now please advise what products you are currently using for flavor and colorants in your Marathon product.
  13. A very good point. What are the flavourants and colourants in these products?
  14. Just paid R3600 for prescription lenses for my Oakley frames. Huge money but I can actually see now. Went photochromic so should work in most light conditions. Only small downside noted is that the new lenses are much heavier, just a matter of getting used to the fit. Spend the cash and do it properly, just get them insured
  15. had a similar problem, turned out to be my pedals, strange as the sound seemed to come from elsewhere on the bike
  16. don't know the specs of all the bikes you listed and assume they are similar?? If this is the case I would go for the Scott as I like the brand. A consideration should also be the bike shop where you buy (unless all from the same spot) as you will be going back for services etc
  17. If you have lots of time to train, add in a few short runs a week and it will make you stronger. However, if time is an issue and you are training for a bike ride, ride your bike.
  18. Depends on which Racing Ralphs. Check out the Schwalbe website to see the differences. The tubeless ready versions are great, snakeskin even better. Depending on your rim, it is possible to get your standard Racing Ralphs to seal fairly easily, you will need a compressor and some patience though....
