  1. Pepper spray I'll wait to get flamed by all the doggy lovers - And go !
  2. I have a TREK 9.8 full carbon hard tail - everytime i upgraded my 29er the old parts went onto the 26er So today its has full XO SRAM 1 X 10 incl brakes with 720mm bars - REBA fork - American Classic tubeless wheels. The only thing I couldn't do was upgrade to GX Eagle 1 X 12 when i went AXS on the 29er I think the cassette would be bigger than the rim 😁 I swear I'm gonna ride it one day again
  3. Missing diamond by 360 pts is the same trauma as doing a 3:01 Argus 🤣
  4. I was in exactly the same position - on 30th i had 99 500 (needed 100 000) found a dietician who does online consultations up to 8pm in the evening via google meets - worked perfectly ended up on 100 500 on 31st - Thank you GOOGLE
  5. Well i had them on an old SCOTT 26er V - Brake frame with IS mounts - The fork was a REBA with IS mounts as well. so with the correct adaptors they should fit any frame.
  6. You lucky to be able to extract yourself - I have a life product that lapses if I drop vitality and the value seriously declines if i drop below Diamond - I have a life sentence handed down by my Med Aid 🤪
  7. Interesting article from MONEYWEB - kind of confirms my take on Scamality 2 key takeaway comments in the article "One’s Vitality status is arguably significantly more valuable to Discovery’s actuaries than to the member themselves." "Maybe the question that needs to be asked is whether it’s necessary to achieve Diamond status on Vitality at all." https://www.moneyweb.co.za/news/companies-and-deals/is-it-harder-to-get-to-discovery-vitality-diamond-than-before/?fbclid=IwAR32Lv_B2wTxZrhhvhX2G_1BNdMd3KnCMbgCnt870Hg8HVZK9SareJ5A2mI
  8. What he said - And if you not a banking client then vitality is basically a free coffee coupon site now
  9. Hey Titan I have a mate wants to get into MTBing Entry level budget - 10K approx. Hardtail - 29er - airshock preferably. What would you recommend from your range And Go
  10. Reduce their prices you can forget. A few years back i got into a rather heated discussion with them on their pricing for self sponsored people wanting to get into the trade - I was going to sponsor my garden technician to upskill him to enter the formal employment world - they were not interested. The other problem why not many LBS dont have a appy program is - They employ a person spend lots of money on these certified courses and then the guy leaves for another LBS because he got offered an extra couple of hundred ronts, so they lose their investment before they can make a return. Back in the day of apprenticeships you signed a contract if you left or broke the contract you had to pay back all the training money spent on you or you had to find a new employer that would buy you out of your contract, so you stayed and finished your appyship
  11. If you wanna hack it on your own 1. Stop eating bread completely - I mean nothing nadda 2. Only eat 1 starch with meals - Potato or rice never both 3. Stop using sugar - no sweats, cake, chocolate completely and definitely no fizzy drinks - Brannes & coke / Captain & coke is gone from your life - you can have 1 or 2 beers a month 4. Do 2 or 3 - 1 hour ride session or IDT sessions at 70% - 75% of max heart rate. It takes a few weeks to get going, but you should get to a point of losing 1kg per week. that's a how i do it for events if i want to be 6kg lighter i start 8 weeks before the event - After the event i get fat and sassy again
  12. What dropper is that ? Normally for some makes you can get spares
  13. Torqzone is the only local academy that can qualify a person on paper as a Bike Technician. They are also part of the academy in UK so its certainly recognized. As to their prices, considering what training costs in other trades i would say they not bad. But - Spending the money to get the qualification is not going to mean you can walk into a LBS and get the job. Its no different than going to college and getting your Btech in Mech Engineering as a pvt student and then applying for a job as a Mech Engineer, its not gonna happen - At best you will get in as a learner or junior engineer and after 3 - 4 years you could get to Engineer. Key is on the job experience. So Torqzone academy certification will get your foot in the door as a learner or apprentice. 3 - 4 years later you could call yourself a Certified Bike Technician or Mechanic. But if you are like most of us on here wanting to learn the trade for yourself and not to get employment at a LBS, keep your money, everything they certify you on can be learnt for free at the university of youtube. Spend the money on tools rather. Where the bicycle industry fails in this country is there is no formal apprenticeship for Bicycle Mechanics. What is supposed to happen - you get employed as an appy at a LBS its 3 or 4 years to qualify and in that time they send you to Torqzone to get certified at the different skill levels. Once you qualified you can present a prospective employer your certification and 4 years experience.
  14. This is a good deal - Spec wise. Just make sure when you looking at used carbon frames you go over every inch to check for cracks and damage especially at the BB, pivots & corners. If i find what i think is a crack i spray some penetrating oil and place some torsion or twist into the frame back and forth - if the oil bubbles out and sucks back in where the crack seems to be = don't touch it find another deal
  15. Kickr only pulls 5A i can run mine for over 3 hrs on my DC UPS i use for my modem in fact i can run both the Kickr and the telkom modem for wifi for over 2 hrs - Use ZWIFT & TR on the laptop battery which still lasts for at least 3 hours My only problem now is i can't use load shedding as an excuse not to train
  16. I've only ever used FOX MTB helmets - last one I bought was a MIPS - Wow what a difference its very comfortable and sits proper on my pip never tried wave cell so cant comment on the difference
  17. Discovery Scamality changes the rules every year so who knows what 2023 will bring - But as i understand it on my app you get 50% off the first 4000 ronds of the retail price so if the device cost 4000 ronds you will get 2000 ronds off and pay 2000 ronds - if it cost 6000 ronds you still only 2000 ronds off and you will pay 4000 ronds. And the max spend I think is 6000 ronds in a rolling 12 month period.
  18. These were quiet an education I sh%t you not - Once i had them working though they were or are awesome brakes - the only problem I had was if the bike stood for too long the front caliper lost pressure, could never get that issue fixed
  19. Time carbon pedals - No shafts - for spares - I'm sure the carbon blades could be used for spares willbe binned in 7 days if not taken TAKEN - NO LONGER AVAILABLE
  20. Old Magura Louise brake set with 180mm rotors + adapters Can be used but will need to be serviced and bled - 1 hyd pipe is cut OR used as spare parts FREE - will be binned in 7 days if not taken Collection in Eastleigh Edenvale
  21. Been is sales almost all my working career - "leads" is not the correct terminology for what they are measuring. A lead is where the seller gets information on a potential buyer that they can contact and try negotiate a sell / buy transaction. what they are measuring is views or hits which of course is also reflected in the stats
  22. Thanx for the post - i just pulled the trigger on the 830 and a further 220 off on all the vouchers i didn't know i had - Cashier asked me if i wanted to use them, only realised now, why they keep asking me for my cell number 🤪
  23. 8000km - I would be happy with that - you could get double with some preventative maintenance. There are 12 bearings of which 6 are not that expensive - 4 in the pivot link and 2 in the rear dropouts are about 80 ronds each. The 4 in the frame are the expensive ones at 300 ronds each locally - Only available from enduro and they are double race with very small balls so any dirt in them and they fail fairly quickly - I compared prices online with overseas and they were 23 euro so they expensive all over. So a full bearing change is gonna cost at least 1700 ronds plus 1 - 2 hr labor if the mechanic knows what he is doing. I keep my eyes open for the bearings at good prices and then buy them as spares - before i replace i carefully remove the seals and clean them out - if they have no visible corrosion, turn smooth and can spin at high speed with compressed air I regrease and re-install them. The joys of owning a FS bike.
  24. And greased bearings will also seize when they overheat - But that's all semantics and its not Friday yet He would publish a white paper on this post 🧐
