  1. Nope only from your LBS - I been down this rabbit hole before
  2. I have exactly the same - also from motorbike shop in the Vale 😁 - Works perfect
  3. 70% of max at my age is 113 bpm which i get to fairly easy - 1 hr workout i end on anything between 124 - 148 ave - I start my watch 15 min before the workout and end it 15 min after workout = 1hr30 = 450 points. My wife does 30 min sessions at 80% HR and earns 300 points
  4. When I went from dumb to smart trainer I went with Wahoo, because everyone was going that route - before i only used TACX and had excellent usage out of it. I pulled the trigger on a Kickr Core and with in a week the fight started. The strange sound that 1000's of others developed - Ikhambi said it was normal - After lots of arguing they replaced it. Well it went on for nearly 12 months and 4 replacements all for the same reason. The one i've had now for the last 3 years "touch wood" is working fine. I will never purchase Wahoo cr@p again - Their design is cr@p and so is their quality as well as their after sales ability to supply service and spare parts - Everyone raves and blesses Ikhambi for their excellent service, they have a serious attitude problem and are not interested in repairs in or out of warranty, they will only replace if they really have to in terms of the warranty. They have done nothing to support an aftermarket service and repair regime, even at the LBS that sell their product. Many years ago our company launched a product in this country that performed terribly - Not one ever worked properly - The Salesman once told me "When you sell this product and you driving out of the customers premises you don't even look in your review mirror" - I'm sure that's how Ikhambi's salesmen must have felt as well. Just Dump your Kuckr and get a TACX - write it off as school fees.
  5. I remember a case in JHB u number of year back, where a cyclist was clocked at 100km/hr going down the hill past the zoo, think the limit was 60km/hr - they arrested the cyclist and impounded his bike, had to appear in front of a judge who imposed the same fine a car would have got. According to the road traffic act - Yes you have to stick to the speed limit
  6. Wasn't aware of this So did you just sign up on the banking app ?
  7. Anybody else sit with this problem and have a solution. Both my wife and me do the vitality activity thing to get the tier points to Diamond each year. The wife is not a banking client, she had a secondary card linked to my card - so all her bonus points or miles simply accumulate and the only way we can use them is on free coffee vouchers, which will take 100 years to use them all. How do we use all her points ? I had a massive argument with them some months back, that as a secondary card user her miles should accumulate with my miles so we can use them together - they simply laughed at me. When i look at the current old health app, its being completely dumbed down and everything is moving to the Bank app, very soon I believe it will be discontinued and if you not a banking client with the bank app you basically won't be able to access the vitality points benefit. Its almost extortion, forcing their health clients to become banking clients.
  8. The fastest TREK ever !! - Put me on it and I'll show you how slow it is
  9. The big events in both MTB & Road have lost their appeal - They cost an arm and a leg and riders are simply saying, for that kind of money I can do my own thing with a few mates. Remember the Argus at entry time sold out within a few hours and multi day stage races had a 3 year waiting list. Nowadays they still trying to fill entries up to the day before the race. The big events attracted a lot of participants because of the hospitality areas that were taken up by companies or clubs for customers and members - These turned into serious kuier sessions after the race and you simply had to be there. Organizers ripped the prices of these areas until clubs could no longer afford them and companies said "mmmm Naaaaa our money is better spent elsewhere" Prices for food and drink in the general hospitality area became insane - 30 ronds for 350ml water - People simply finished the ride, got in their car and went home. Value for money just isn't there anymore. The only events that I can say are still value for money are some of the old MTB races like the Nissan series, Garmin series (even they are now few and far between) NF quickie. Gravel events are the flavor at the moment because both roadies and MTBers get to ride the same route and the big events like Race to the Sun and Race to the Sea plus some others are well organized and people still see value for money.
  10. Strange but true - and i've lost this argument before i researched it on the interweb. Torque wrench setting is designed around its length if you change its length it changes the torque applied to the bolt/nut. New torque will equal (old length/new length) X old torque So increasing the length from 0.5 to 0.75 = 0.6666 With the torques setting at 50Nm it will now be 33.33Nm
  11. Same thing happened with me when my son turned 18 - I took out a cheap Life insurance for him - At the time it was 200 ronds a month for 1.0 mill life cover, then he joined vitality and did all the gym stuff etc Also came in handy when he bought his first apartment - he seeded the Life product for his bond to the bank instead of taking a separate policy.
  12. that be my hood where i grew up
  13. this is the normal input power requirements when running with the supplied power lead - It has a stepdown box, the output on this box is where you need to look it's 12v 5 amp So any 12v DC UPS will work - just select the highest Amp output on the ups - normally 3 amp I use the amps to determine time - the Kickr will use 5 amps per hour so if you want to run for 2 hours you will need a 10 Ah ups min. I got an ultralan 17.8 Ah off Takealot have used it for a 1hr45 session and it was on 50% when i finished
  14. Thats wrong if you look on the power box Input is 100-240 V 1.7amps - AC output is 12v 5 amp DC The Gizzu 8800 mAh = 8.8 amp hr's should last 1hr45min if you run it on the 12v 3 amp output
  15. These do work well, However - They are 7AH Lead Acid batteries - The Kickr pulls 5 amps so you will get just over 1 hour (7/5 =1.4 hrs) before the UPS shuts down. they get a bad rap because people draw them down completely and the battery deteriorates very quickly, common with lead acid. they are not designed for this and only really meant as an emergency back up in the event of power failure to give you time to save and shutdown PC's etc. I was about to bin mine and decided to open it up - I changed the battery to a 12v 7aH LI battery (not sure if it can handle this battery but did it anyway) it now lasts a lot longer - haven't tried it on the Kickr again but run 2 laptops and an external screen which lasts about 1:15 hr and the battery is still running strong after 3 months. Oh & BTW - i disconnect this thing from the mains when i'm not using it - It gets fairly hot and LI catching on fire is not uncommon - so be careful if you make this modification
  16. That looks like wear from the upper bushing - If the stanchions were replaced last Sept then clearly they didn't replace the bushings - which is insane ! - new stanchions = new bushings as well
  17. If you have oil leaking out of a dropper post, then the cartridge needs servicing or replacing - end of discussion. I would only deal with people who have experience with suspension and dropper posts - there are a few on the hub or call RBC (Robbies Bicycle concept) in PE From what i see on the net the merida cartridge is not a serviceable item and would probably need replacing Here is a video to give you some insight to what you are dealing with
  18. I highly doubt 7 years ago that entry portals were, or still are, checking ID no's - At most they probably compare your first 6 digits with the DOB you enter on the same application How Dare you ! accuse me of speaking with forked tongue
  19. How dare you slander my favorite LBS ! 😲
  20. I know of some cases of youngsters missing the age limit by a few months and managed an official entry by changing the month numbers in their ID's and then staying in the middle of the pack as not to attract attention - without mentioning names, one of them had to be held back by his ride partner as he was heading into a top 10 finish - today he is a Pro rider But when you nearly 19 and look 19 is different when you 15 and look 15. Chances of officials spotting you somewhere in the field are good. According to one race organiser - If they break the age rule by even 1 month and its found out or something happens to the rider during the race, its huge problems for the organiser with CSA and their liability insurance
  21. Doing the Berg n Bush '@ 15 😲 - thought there was an age restriction on stage races Best of luck though - ride it like you stole it 🤙
  22. No i'm sure he immigrated to Scotland
