  1. then you should visit the dynamite factory museum its situated next to 33 high street restaurant, havn't been there in years but was very informative when i did visit there last
  2. Just some useless information - as an ex employee of Modderfontein. The ruins you ride through are not the old dynamite factory per se, and neither is there a dynamite mine in that area. Dynamite is not mined its manufactured. The Factory is the entire complex which can still be seen from the main road, here they manufactured various chemicals and fertilizers as well as detonators etc. The main reserve is the where the old explosive storage bunkers were situated some of which are still used for other purposes and we ride through or past them on some trails. The ruins in the black section are actually mixing stations, where the final open cast mining explosive were processed. This was a process where Ammonium Nitrate (fertilizer) was mixed with diesel, which is an extremely volatile and dangerous process. This is why the ruins walls are all very thick and heavy with the roads and buildings have huge embankments surrounding them (these are blast walls). Those of us who grew up in Edenvale and Kempton will remember some of the huge explosions that happened there - well this is where they happened, when the mix process went wrong the station blew up. During my time i was on the maintenance crew that had to clean out and rebuild 2 such exploded stations. Luckily they it was an unmanned process so no workers were actually present or killed in the stations (at least during my time there), but some were killed from flying debris which landed as far as 1000 m away from the explosion. AEL - still use the area as an explosive storage are, these are now located behind the fence which runs parallel to the reed section.
  3. So now that i know how to see Aerobic Decoupling, I spent some time reviewing my IDT sessions going back approx 1 year. I'm horrified to see they all "BAD" I fon't have a power meter for outrides so i'm only looking at IDT sessions where i use TR with virtual power training sessions. What am i doing wrong here ! surely these numbers should improve with 3 sessions a week. I'm sometimes not consistent with training due to work commitments and sickness, but hell !! i put in the work when i can, and would expect to see at least some improvement. I read the article on this subject and i'm leaning towards my Aerobic endurance being K@K and thinking i should change my training plan on TR to focus more on this. I started with Sweetspot Base 1 & 2 then went to Sustained Power Build when this finishes I start their Century plan. Clearly i'm doing something wrong here Your comments ?
  4. Holy S#&^T !!! I'm not sure i like this now that i found it - reflects just how *** my fitness is - Work to be done !!

  9. I agree, if its manicured trails you want then go ride Huddle Park. In my opinion the R 50 entrance fee is more about the safe environment you get to ride in. Security is good in both the parking area as well as on the trails. If you clever, get a multi entry card and it works out cheaper per ride. Each bike park has something different to offer, so go ride the park the suits your requirements best. This weekend i rode Red Barn, whilst they have a maize of trails on offer, the condition of the trails were also lacking in some aspects. Their bridges look fairly dodgy and in need of some serious maintenance, but for me it was more about working on my technical skills so i'm not complaining its an awesome park if you want technical. Go to NF, their trails are no better or worse than Modders, but they offer a different ride experience in terms of overall climbing and distance, with a nice amount of single track and a bit of technical riding. Go to Groenkloof, they offer a different ride there as well. Blackjacks, mud, riding ruts, grassy knolls, loose gravel climbs......come on guys, this is what MTBing is all about
  10. Me thinks this has more to do with FOX capturing the growing pvt suspension shops business, to harness bigger spares business. They already dropped their importer in Europe and distributing themselves, which gives them more margin - same thing in the UK. I wouldn't be surprised if their next announcement will be the dropping of Omnico and we have a FOX distribution center here in SA. A friend sent his fork in recently for a service, they phoned him back and said the stanchions needed replacing and would need to replace the CSU, quoted service and rebuild R 8 500.00. He said no ways just do the oil service and send it back, they refused until he signed an indemnity. Long story short he signed it and they sent his fork back, I checked his stanchions and they got wear but not that bad, been riding for 5 weeks now and it running perfect no oil leaks and it holds pressure. There are a few pvt suspension shops replacing aftermarket stanchions and steerer tubes, all of which are perfect quality, this results in lost CSU sales for FOX. They also losing business to aftermarket seal kits, the likes of SKF, Enduro etc. Not to mention the amount of aftermarket tuning kits which work better than FOX OEM products.
  11. How does your fitness graph compare or differ from Elevate, I'm looking at your fitness trend and it reads about 9% lower than what I see on Elevate. I prefer yours BTW

  17. Normally in the business world the supplier would call on dealers to buy and stock their product, increasing the availability and distribution network is a function of the suppliers sales team not the dealers Just saying....use it, don't use it, use it
  18. Should be reported to Campy police
